Sometimes I wonder what the Stones would have been like if Rory had been in the band..... he was one of the considerations after Brian Jones died. Would have been interesting !

I think he was right to turn it down, just too many egos in that band.

He done more than ok on his own - I sometimes watch his acoustic stuff & just shake my head with amazement.

    Genius - R.I.P Rory

Credit their durability. They must have really sniffed all their profits away to be still gigging at this stage. More power to them.

    Not a bit of it.
    They're f*cking loaded.
Jagger and Richards alone are probably worth at least half a billion between them.
Think it's just that they really like being the Rolling Stones.
    And who could blame them?
And it would also seem they really, really like making even more money.

Mumford and Sons were already better after the first few minutes.

I'm not a huge Stones fan and they haven't made a decent record since the early 80s but at times the lads can still rock and I'd certainly be willing to go to a gig of theirs.*

Mick Jagger has just turned 70 BTW. Willie Nelson is almost 80. Ringo Starr and Tina Turner are 72.

*but not at the exorbitant ticket prices they charge...

Mumford are fantastic, the sound is so much better than for stones,

M&S - much better than the Stones last night...... Still a questionable act to put up there as headliners though imo.

    Agree 101%

Though I would have loved if he played with Deep Purple. I heard he was rumored to have been considered/asked but I dont believe it tbh.

I just think Rory and Purple would have been a fantastic partnertship. It had all the ingredients of being a f*ckin' kickass full on hard rock band.

His personality would have suited the band perfectly and if you threw in his lyrical skill Purple would have been a power house.

    Oh well :P

The Rolling Stones are grossly overrated, like Led Zeppelin are.
