Delighted to have this back. Love the Champions League nights, the build up, buzz in and around the stadium, the theme tune.

The Celtic FB page has a tribute to Neil Lennons birthday today, showing the 3 goals he scored for the Hoops, they forgot to add the goal he scored in the 8-1 win against the Pars! Idiots!

I wonder why Cliftonville are so keen to swap

I presume its to maximise the money they can make. Used be a regular thing with LoI clubs when the draws were open and they got a 'big name' club. Though they'd have sold out the second leg anyway so id say they are thinking of moving to a bigger venue,

The Chairman of Cliftonville has confirmed that the match will be at Solitude though, which is why I ask. I'd wouldnt have batted an eyelid if they were considering getting a bigger venue.

Oh right. Strange one alright, well i suppose be easier to market/promote make a few bob starting all square than if they were going n to second leg 6-0 down though it would have sold out anyway so who knows?

That's the point, wonder why they didn't go bigger stadium, would have sold out for sure, possibly pressure to keep thousand of celtic fans travelling to Belfast for a party, might not go down too well with alot of the locals.
This I believe may play a factor why there may be a "push" not to maximise profits and go for a bigger stadium.

Sometimes clubs like to have their games played at their home ground not to suddenly devalue it for a one off match.

There's a rake of Celtic fans living in Belfast already and there will be a party when they are joined by other Celtic fans and Cliftonville supporters. For Cliftonville I think they have foregone short term financial gain and want to have the 1st leg at home with the tie starting all square. It'll be an historic occasion for them, a lot of Cliftonville supporters are Celtic fans as well.

Celtic have agreed to swap the venue for the first leg of their Champions League qualifier against Cliftonville.
It had been scheduled for Celtic Park on 17 July but will now take place at Solitude in Belfast.

The return leg in Glasgow will be played on 23 July, Celtic confirmed on their website.

There had been speculation the Reds could move the glamour tie to a bigger capacity venue to cater for demand.

Celtic manager Neil Lennon said he was relishing the prospect of travelling to Belfast

"It will be the first time I will have taken Celtic to a competitive game back home so that is something to look forward to, but we will be totally motivated, obviously, to play as strongly as we can and try and win the tie," he said.

"It's a great draw and it will create a lot of interest back in Belfast but I am very wary of the tie."

I suppose potential earning could change the Cliftonville chairman's mind...

Celtic could target Monaco's 27-year-old striker Ibrahima Toure. The Senegalese international scored 18 goals in 35 Ligue 2 appearances last season, but his place has been threatened by the arrival of Radamel Falcao.

Dont know much about the source for this gossip but anyone see this guy in action?

Agreed. He is still young so he could develop into a really quality center back. But reality is he just never was able to stay fit for long enough to fully establish himself at Celtic so I can see why this is happening on both sides.

He's out of contract at Celtic.

Paddy McCourt has left Celtic now. Following Rogne out the door with his contract running down and a new one not been signed. Word is the Derry man is at Birmingham. But nothing confirmed. Sad to see Paddy go but understandable given he just wasn't playing much even when fit. Played 88 games for Celtic during his 5 years at the club and scored 10 very memorable goals.
