Safer alternative my arse, there un-regulated, god only knows what people are smoking. They are cigarettes and should be banned, all were doing is getting people off one drug and on to another.
Saying it's safer or better than people smoking is nonsense, it's akin to saying take up herion its' not as bad as crack.

“I am not convinced of [their] safety,” Reilly told the media earlier today. “I don’t like the idea that they are being promoted, particularly on flights. I don’t like that.”

    He still likes burgers though

I tend to agree. They're an inhaler that dispenses a potent addictive drug and we don't know what the side effects are.

You're really not evolved to consume anything through your lungs apart from fresh air.

There are three major stakeholders who stand to lose out from E-Cigs becoming poplar.

Governments, think of all that lost taxes
Pharma, people switching to E-Cigs means less sales for their own quitting paraphernalia
Tobacco, less people buying their daily pack means less sales for themselves

I suppose it is to be expected as they get more popular

I think this is the work of large pharma companies. They own all the patch, gum, sprays etc. E-cigs work, and its wiping out there profits.

I expect to see them in chemists only, and probably sold for 50-60euro each.

I don't like the fact that some of them produce clouds of vapour. I'd a big row with a guy who was blowing this stuff all over me on a bus.

I wouldn't care of he were injecting nicotine as long as it doesn't contaminate my breathing air!

Actually, heroin is safer than crack if you get pharma grade gear. I take it you don't think addicts should get methadone?

God does know what is in them, and so do you, as you can mix your own. Nicotine & Glycerol either synthetic or vegetable - and a food grade flavouring.

    Here's the comparison of chemicals.

The effects of nicotine are widely known and easily available. Its similar to caffeine.

I agree,I "vape" myself but some people can be quite ignorant when they do it in public places.Although the vapour itself is harmless to surrounding people, its just courtesy not to blow all over the place.

eCigs are not a cottage industry by any means, people who use ecigs are psychotic if they think there off smokes just because it's an eCig, there still addicted to nicotine.

A proported safer alternative to smoking, yet the EU wants to place them under Governments' control through medical approvals.

I oppose such a move, does AH agree?

you oppose government/EU regulation of possibly harmful merchandise?. They are just doing their job, watching out for us.

proof of that harmless nature? I'm not keen on any unusual vapours being wafted in a confined space I have to breath air from!

Aren't Cigarette companies getting heavily into the whole E-Cig business? I can see it being a dream product for them - you still have all the addictive qualities of nicotine without the health-damaging, cancer causing aspects.

E-Cigs are here to stay but they're going to become a bigger business and are going to be taxed soon enough too.

Of course not,as I said I vape.Just because it legal to use ecigs indoors doesn't mean we should blow it into other peoples space.

So a cigarette company bring out an electronic cigarette and all of a sudden the hundreds of other competitors already in the market are under their control?

There saying now pot can get people off heroin and crack, so i'll go wit the latest medical evidence and say give them pot.

As for making your own, yea it's possible but can you really see smokers going down and doing it themselves i'm sure a few would but the majority just need the nicotine and want it as quick as possible.
As I said i'm an xsmoker, it's easy to look back and see how mad smokers arguments are, it's not something you can understand until your free from nicotine, which vapers aren't. There still in denial, pretty sad really.

Liquid for producing vapour in electronic cigarettes, known as e-juice or e-liquid, is a solution of propylene glycol (PG) and/or vegetable glycerin (VG) and/or polyethylene glycol 400 (PEG400) mixed with concentrated flavors, and optionally, a variable percentage of a liquid nicotine concentrate.

Its safe, you probably consume it in other products
