I don't have the paper in front of me but I think I went over it last night. Isn't it stated at the very end of question 2 to use 9% where relevant?

I just checked the exam paper there and you are right it was included at the very bottom of the two sections in Question 3, but it hadnt been included in the revision pack that we put up - THANK YOU! I have spent 30 minutes trying to figure it out - such a numpty!

If it makes you feel any better I did exactly the same yesterday!! Took me like half an hour stressing trying to figure out how they calculated VIU without a discount rate, then I decided to check the actual exam paper and saw it.....*face palm*

how long did people send on foreign exchange rate risk?? I'm thinking on starting it today but will I have time to complete it?

Just depends on each person. For me, exchange rates confuse the crap outta me so it definitely took me like a day or two to become confident dealing with them (after drawing out a big simplified diagram for myself to follow in the exam!!!). But you might find them easier to grasp!

I'm finding financial instruments a bit tricky...how does everyone here feel about them?
I find them worse than deferred tax

Have to say the phrasing of some SFMA questions is very confusing!! Seems like more an exam on figuring out what the hell the examiner is trying to ask than on finance and Mgmt

Any chance of sticking up the diagram lost with it?

Well I kinda did one out for each different instrument eg options, futures etc. so I'd be putting up like 10 pages but these are the main 2 that I did to help understand FX movements. You'd swear I was trying to teach junior infants I had to simplify it so much!

Don't know if ye will be able to follow them, this was my train of thought anyway!

Red for bad, green for good haha!

Something more interesting to look at in exam other than black and white :-) I'll bring my coloured pens in with me so if all else fails I can start drawing flowers for the examiner and hope for the best....

Don't really have any on consolation, the only think I have done out is the FX on consolidation if that's any good?

Ya I thought I'd be putting in crazy hours this week, but all I've been doing is making the most of daytime TV before I go back to work haha!

1 Note if the asset revalued is land or the revaluation has already been reflected in the financial statements of the subsidiary then there is no additional depreciation charge

My understanding of note 1 is that if you have any additional depreciation after revaluing assets then land and stock will not be included for the depreciation charges.

Land is never depreciated, only revalued.
Stock is always lower of cost or NRV.

I hope this is what mean.

Same as. Hopefully two days cramming will be enough. Not much I can do if it's not I guess!

Ya, I just really don't know how I'm set anymore. One minute I'm confident, next minute I'm not. Haven't a clue if I'll fail them all or pass them all :-(

Anyone know does the FR interim examiner set the summer paper? We'll be fairly screwed if he/she does....
