(Admin, move if this is in the wrong forum)

Hi I am considering enrolling on one of the recognised tax qualification courses and I am undecided on which one to chose. I am a Chartered Accountant working in the corporation tax department of an accountancy practice.

I'd be grateful if anyone who has recently gained either qualification could give me a bit of feedback on the merits or otherwise of their qualification and why I should chose it over the other one.

The AITI course seems to be more recognised but that is understandable as the CA course is only a couple of years old.
More people have the AITI and I (personally) would consider it the standard. This is the one B4 trainees do.

I think a few of the big 4 are starting to offer the CA one also as an option.

Personally, I would still go with the ITI CTA qualification especially given the recent link up with the other tax institutes under the CTA recognition (if one intends to work in tax abroad for example)

I'm a CA and CTA so I may be a bit biased wink.png

I can see merit in both courses though and think you will end up with an excellent qualification whichever one you choose

I'm biased but I'd lean towards the ITI. I've seen a few job specs specifying AITI also- whether that's just an oversight on the recruiters part or actually enforced, I'm not sure but worth keeping in mind.

Yes you seem to all be echoing opinions I have heard from elsewhere. I think the sensible choice would be to go with ITI.
