Bank job - SEPA - contacting Business customers - good or bad?

    Hi all,

    I received an email from a recruitment agency regarding a job with a bank, in which my role would be as follows:

    "The role is a mix in between outbound calling and administration. You would have to contact Business customers and get them to transfer to the SEPA /I]Single Euro Payments Area[I compliant payment platforms of [our bank]. You would do this over the phone and while doing this you would have to file every case and a lot of administration is required. You must have excellent communication skills as you would be representing the [bank] for their Business customers."

    Does this sound like cold calling, or would Business customers welcome the chance to transfer to the SEPA-compliant payment platform? I can't really tell. I don't really want to be calling people who are going to hang up on me.

    They don't have a choice: SEPA arrives next year and they have to be ready. Sounds more like a service/advisory role than a sales one.

    It's not a sales job, it's a case of chancing up the banks customers to make sure they are ready for the change over to SEPA. Which is happening regardless of what they might prefer.

    We're working with the banks at the moment in terms of moving our customer base over to SEPA compliance.

    As has previously been said this isn't really a sales exercise... more a advisory role or account management style work. SEPA is a European directive that customers can't choose to ignore. They have to adopt it by Feb 2014 at the latest.

    My main concern if I was you is what happens after the SEPA move over cut off date of the end of Feb 2014. Is there good long term prospects of being kept on or is this just a short term contract for the duration of the project.
