This weekend is going to drag like a bastard for me...

Ah sure now you can give away your 7970's as no need for them ;)

Did you get any coil whine from the sapphire one at all?

i wouldn't worry too much about those reviews; i think a lot of people's judgement is clouded by nostalgia for the old movies, despite them being camp as fook

fair enough i didnt like the superman universe at allso i'd be going in nostalgia free. I still havent forgiven review sites for the over-rating of Dark Knight rises, I cant watch that film as i just keep seeing how much of a mess the film was :(

Great cards never any issues with them, never had coil whine from either of em.

@Gumbi, any day is a good day for these to drop :)

TBH I was looking at Haswell, but gave a look at meager the performance bump over IB, and think I may as well stick with my trusty 2500k (which is running away nicely 4.3Ghz, 27/62 deg C idle/load), and thought there's little point in upgrading.

    Have you considered de-lidding it?

Now i'm just pee'd off at it so taking a hammer to it is getting more appealing by the day

The only thing that's swaying me toward Haswell is that damn good looking ITX board from Asus, but that'll probably be an arm and a leg, plus by the sounds of things, it's not out until the end of July.

    ROFL :pac:

Maybe get it delivered from Amazon? It'll cost a few euro more, bu not too much, plus shipping either be free, or only 5 pounds.

Pity :/ It's 150 pounds + a few quid more on delivery. That's basically HWVS cost + 19 euro delivery. Try Aria and Scan, they're pretty good for UK sites.

I'm looking for a way to extend the range of my wireless network, I've looked at either getting a Mikrotik router or getting a wifi repeater, does anyone know any good 802.11N repeaters?

Yeh I ordered using the price comparison site to it ends up being €40 from amazon I'm already 150 over budget so its not really an option :(

Out of stock at scan too and aria don't carry stock it.

Might just give them a call and see if they'll send the rest of the order out.

Roughly how much do they cost? The price of compressed air is the bane of my life. I would drive the 25 mins to the nearest dealz just to get some. :pac:

I don't remember exactly, it was pretty cheap though, I think around €1.50

Give a look here, after seeing Ed E's idea, and as I have the GPU's out, I took my case to a mates whos a mechanic, and used a full size compressor and blasted the sh!te out of it. Plugged it in with power off so it was earthed, and kept the nozzle away from the mobo as much as possible, as there's no water separator on it.

Some result. Even with filters the really fine dust got in and was stuck around the 3 x 180 mm fans in the bottom. Not now, clean as a whistle.

Every Dealz I go into asking for compressed air I get looked at very strangely.

@Monotype, I was recommending a VPS as a way to learn Linux. It forces you to use the command line, it's remote access so you can do stuff on it from anywhere, and it's not your own computer so you don't care too much about things going wrong.

Same one, for only €5.50 more.:pac:

It's full of a "liquid". Spray it on your hand and it's visibly wet but evaporates fairly quick. Not sure it's "good".

I got that one but never used it since moisture came out in the spray.
It was probably alcohol but I didn't want to chance it.
