    http://www.independent.ie/irish-news/courts/garda-sergeant-avoids-jail-for-sexually-assaulting-female-colleague-29337178.html

While I agree this behavior has absolutely no place in a professional environment, I was shamefully in stitches laughing reading through it.
A judge heard that he pushed his pelvic region against the woman's behind, grabbed her hips and began gyrating while saying, “she likes it this way”.
She said that once when officers were asked if they would work at the Dublin Horse Show, Woods had said her “Do you want to go to that? You are good at riding.”
In 2012 Woods had also been convicted and fined at Dublin District Court for sexually assaulting another female officer by groping her leg before telling her “I'd say you're some screamer in bed”.

So what are your thoughts ? Was the judge correct in just imposing a fine, or should he have received a custodial sentence.. In my opinion he should be on stage doing stand-up or given his own TV show.

I don't see how you found any of that funny. It's absolutely disgusting being subjected to that kind of treatment in work, and I'm saying that as somebody who was on the receiving end of it.

You try acting professional when a colleague is telling you that the best place for you is on your knees, or having your arse or tits grabbed.

It just shows there are lecherous predatory inappropriately behaved animals in every profession and walk of life.

given the context and no doubt joking manner of the gyrating hips one, seems a bit of an over reaction a bit having read the article

at the risk of saying it gives ones who are propperly sexually assaulted less....emmmm clout? it kind of does though?

People like you are either carrying out this kind of harassment or are responsible for the "ah sure it's only a joke" attitude that allows it to take place or go unreported.

Your immature idiotic attitude leads me to believe that you are possibly about 12 years old or a potential offender yourself.

From my stand point its not an over reaction. It's happened to me before and i was always dreading going into work because of it. No one should feel so uncomfortable going into work because someone is making such comments.

He pushed his pelvic region into her and gyrated against her. How can that be considered a joke?

When I was sexually assaulted in work, the guy laughed while doing it. Just because HE saw it as a joke does not mean it was funny.

The woman WAS 'properly' sexually assaulted. He was grinding his crotch against her ass. That's a pretty easily identifiable assault.

Did you make any complaints to the higher ups? Seems like it was going on for a while. Did you manage get the situation resolved?

there will be no fun at work !

i rember one of the lads in college used tpo say : the difference between a nympho and a stalker is all in the looks

he may have bullied her (may have ) but he didn't sexually assault her

i think it is awful and the humiliation that woman had to face is terrible. What he said is so unbelievable that i have to say it did make me giggle a bit!

I think the fact that he has done this to more than one woman shows that he was doing it on purpose and knew he was making her uncomfortable and he deserves everything he gets!

I wonder if the wife stood by him!

I read the linked article. He pushed his crotch into her hips and gyrated into her while telling her she liked it that way, he previously sexually assaulted another female colleague, he grabbed a colleague's breast while telling her to wake up. What more do you need before you realise that what he did was sexual assault? Does it have to involve him doing it underneath her clothing rather than over?

    The law says otherwise

So grabbing somebodies hips and gyrating behind them is bullying now?

Pretty obvious sexual assault to me there. But of course it's not 'serious enough' for AH, I know.

What a díck though (the Garda, not you :pac: )

These threads attract some dribbling morons who seem to have somehow retained 1950's attitudes to this type of thing.

"Meh, if a Brad Pitt lookalike stuck his hand into her knickers she'd have no problem with it. It's only sexual harassment if the woman doesn't fancy the fella..."

No but that would be more clear cut. I think the argument of some is that it may have been in jest if he did this with all co workers including men. I however would say that because it wasn't an isolated incident that it is sexual assault.

I don't see how clothing needs to be removed for it to be more clear cut. If a man I work with grabs my breast through my clothing, it's a sexual assault, same as if I grabbed some guy's penis through his clothing.

You make a very valid point about him not doing it to male colleagues. I would love to see him attempt to respond to something like that. :pac:
