I was speaking to a friend who lives in an area where houses fetch 4 - 500 K and was saying that a few properties sold quietly.

One example was a neighbour who exited to Canada with her house sold and no one knew til she was gone.

A probable reason was the house loan was distressed and she didnt want the neighbours viewing as a final insult to loosing her home. She said she was a private person

Do houses at lower prices like 2 - 300 sell like so? Im presuming yes as some people are very private and dont want the neighbours in for a view and chat particularly if the banks are forcing a sale and they dont want to talk about it.

Houses in all price brackets sell privately and are never advertised. Through family, interested parties EAs have lined up, seller being approached privately etc. It's the exception rather than the rule, bit it definitely happens.

I heard that Bono picked his house by helicopter over Dalkey years ago.
