Solid or engineered flooring on battens over UFH.

    I'm renovating a 1940 house and I have ufh in the screed with a gap of 3 inches over which I have battens fixed. I don’t need advice on the wisdom of such as its now in place, just on suitable flooring.
    I have two rooms each approx 19M sq joined by a double door (total 38M sq).
    Any suggestions to the best timber solution, and suppliers. At present I’m receiving conflicting advice of using solid oak not t&g with grooves cut into the back countersunk screwed into battens to 20mm engineered which can be nailed onto battens. The support batons are separated 10 to 11 inches apart.
    My preferred solution would be the first option but some say it may warp. The house has got a good insulation upgrade and is well insulated.

    I don't remember where I heard it, but I believe solid oak or other timber is ok to use with UFH as long as the boards are no wider than 100 mm to prevent warping. So you'd be looking at a parquet-type floor.
