Russian Mafia Operating In Ireland

Even though this is an old story, I think it's worth reminding people of the criminality that exists in Ireland today.

On my way to the shop earlier, I passed two young girls who looked to be in their late teens, early twenties were arguing outside an apartment complex.

On my way back, they were then arguing with some occupant before I was almost walking alongside them in direction of pubs/clubs.

I could tell they were speaking in Russian and in distress by their tone of voice.

Anyway, I crossed the street as we reached the busy area of town and saw them go into a local bar.

Nothing strange about that of course but, it's rumored Lithuanian and Russian gangs are operating in every town throughout Ireland.

Selling drugs and prostitution mainly, running legitimate businesses as a front for their criminality like buying clothes.

Does anyone know of the Russian Mafia operating here in Ireland?

I have some anecdotal evidence regarding beatings of junkies by Russians which leads me to believe the Mafia are operating here in Ireland in every major town and city.

Is this like the "do you know anyone in the IRA" thread ??

Have they not taking over the doors of some establishments in North Dublin?
Pushing out some of the Irish crims that no longer want to get their hands dirty.

You're quoting an article from the Indo ... and then referencing criminality that involves "buying clothes"?!

Worst ... scare mongering ... ever.

Do you sell your clothes to Lithuanians or Russians?

This is just the way life is unfortunately, call it scare mongering if you want.

The clothes shops are distribution points for the dealers...and by the way, Gardai know about it even if they won't admit it.

How could you tell that they were speaking Russian? The average Irish person could not distinguish the Russian language from Polish, Lithuanian, Czech or any other slavic language.

    Wtf?

You saw two people you thinking might be Russian have an argument, but happily go on their way.

Then you link it to an ancient story and a made up thing in your head about the Russian mob?

    Again. Wtf?

The Lithuanian that was recently shot in Rathcoole was heavily involved in that trade.

Because I'm familiar with hearing Russian speakers, they were 100% Russian.

The town I live in has Lithuanian drug dealers working out of a clothes shop...I kid you not. When a polish man didn't pay his debts, he was beaten by a gang of Russians in his own flat in front of his girlfriend. He ended up in hospital but nothing happened to perpetrators.

He is not scaremongering. Operation chestnut was set up by the Gardai to focus on the Lithuanian and Russian mobs operating from west Dublin.

Beating up junkies is kinda what dealers do,I don't get what makes them any worse than our homegrown lot.

You might think this is a joke but there was a polish man murdered last month by these gangs and they're still operating without any action from the authorities.

Could you tell the difference between Russian and Latvian? And if so, how?

I wasn't joking. The Gardai called the operation targeting these Lithuanian gangs 'operation chestnut'.

Okay, I apologise. I'm not familiar with any Gardai operation.
What do you know? Thank you.

The Lithuanian gangs operate out of clothes shops.
Their drugs are delivered there and the dealers pick up from there.

I've no idea how the prostitution works exactly but they seem to work out of rented accommodation.

    What do you know I don't tigger123?

If I'm fabricating this, tell me I'm wrong.

It's more like some effort of an (online?) radio station has opened and are running out of hot topics to rabbit on about - looking to boards as a rescue

The Gardai know what's going on.
Whether they have some 'operation' or not is debatable.

Fact is, Russian Mafia are operating throughout Ireland in all towns right now.

Right, so you would be happy for an unacknowledged/invisible gang to beat up people in Ireland with complete immunity?

Because let's face it...these gangs have immunity until you actually recognize they exist in your country.
