Attic extension in terraced house.

    House footprint is 20 ft by 28 ft, the attic from center of roof to outer wall would then be 14 ft, do I need steel?

    This would be a felt/marine ply roof 18x14, prospective builder has mentioned this but I don't think it is needed.
