getting a ntsc n64 to work

    Hi all,

    Long story short, I bought a load of ntsc games on ebay (without realizing about region locks). I then purchased a ntsc console, it had no jumper pack so I used one from my pal n64.

    I used my cable and power supply from my pal to try and get the ntsc to work...I tried on 4 tv's and the best I can get is a black and white picture with no sound on an old tv.

    Does anyone have any idea how I can get this console to work?? Do i need a different jumper pack, power supply, scart lead etc???

    Any help would be much appreiated1

    Maybe this is stating the obvious, but #1 don't you need an NTSC compatible TV?
    PAL and NTSC operate at different frame rates and resolutions...

    I have no idea...that's why I'm asking! Thanks...if anyone could confirm that would be great

    If that's the case and it won't work on any of my tv's, will it work on a computer monitor??

    If it's an old TV, black and white is all you'll get. If you're using a newer TV, like a flat screen, most of those should work fine.

    I could be wrong, but if you can get your hands on an RGB Scart lead, and your TV supports RGB Scart, I think this may also work.

    NTSC N64's don't support RGB. You have to mod them to support RGB and only the older models support it.

    OP the problem is your TV unfortunately. If you get your hands on a good Sony or Philips TV it will be grand or any modern LCD screen will support it as long as you are using AV composite (red white and yellow cables) or S-video. If you are using RF it might be worth trying AV composite, the N64 takes the same cables as the Gamecube and SNES. It will also give you a better picture, although I'd be upgrading to higher quality s-video asap, it's one of the advantages of a NTSC N64.
