Cut in cable connection for 12V (in car)

    What's the name of cable (or wire) connector that cuts into existing cable with a small copper blade. The blade stays in place and provides connection to a new cable. plastic shell around it provides isolation. I need to buy it, but I have no idea what's the name for it...

    True, but I'm connecting a small load (bluetooth transmitter), so that splice is enough.

    By the way you don't bare the wire of insulation, the connectors themselves do that as they are 'insulation displacement connectors'

    Aftermath: I removed one of those things from the cable and now I'm going to solder all cables. It wasn't cutting through the isolation to the copper as I expected - it was _crushing_ the isolation and breaking part of the copper because the "blade" wasn't really a blade (edge width = approx. 1 mm). Avoid at all cost!

    Ya, they're absolutely crap. Solder and heat shrink all the way. If this isin't possible, the next best things are crimp connectors.
