I thought you had gone AWOL. ;) You must be up to your eyes. How are things looking on your farm Reilig?

I was laughing to myself the other day thinking about when I posted before back in April (I think) about it possibly being 'May day' before all the cattle would be out here. Little did I know it would be closer to June 1 !! Looking out at it now the long winter seems a distant memory....

I was AWOl for a week in the South of France. All good here. It's like we never saw a wet day. Although you can still tell by most fields being covered with buttercups up to your waist. Can't complain though, lots of grass ahead of them now. Silage won't start for 3 weeks, but it's time enough. Loads of extra meadows taken up this year too.

Evenings are busy trying to roll out the cow tracks from last year and licking the rushes. But we'll get there!

Did anyone get turf cut this year? Our turf man isn't going to bother at this stage - he says it's too late. It's going to leave a shortage of fuel in these parts next winter.

Hope you had a great holiday!

Snap. trying to level ruts here too  It's a pain. Cow tracks wouldn't be so bad, but tracks left by tractors is a pain in h*ole. Chain harrow not making a great job of it. Half thinking of giving some of it a light run of powerharrow, then roll.

Yes we have turf cut, footing it at the moment.;) Too late?? I know it's hard to predict the weather, but if it was into August I'd say it was too late! Try get another lad in. I know you cut a lot of firewood, but I you just can't beat having the bit of turf to complement it ;)

one of the 2 one year old bullocks i have in a paddock seems to do a lot of licking himself on the side and scratching. they were both injected with ivomec super before they were let out 3 weeks ago. on good grass and 1 kg nuts for last few days only. any advice appreciated as i am not 2 experienced . they were moved from other cattle in herd saturday to utilise grass and im not sure if its worse since .they do a bit of looing during the day. thanks
