Looks like you beat me to it! I still have the request in with liveatc so I will see if I can set up a feed anyway. Maybe I can provide a different feed, I can feed ground if you are doing the tower or the other way round. I am pretty close to the airport so can generally hear both sides of the ground conversation.

The liveatc guys said that they need "redundancy" in dublin so i guess both yours and mine will be set up.

    Good man and thanks!:)

Will you be providing just one frequency or will you have your scanner set to scan through the various EIDW frequencies?

hopefully the full EIDW range scanning but i may need to drop 1 or 2 if it gets too cluttered or confusing to follow.

Excellent! And also great to hear that dublinflyer's stream will also be used.

I'm looking forward to hearing this up and running.

Excellent. Quality is very good. Ground transmissions are clear and audible and better than what I'd expect given your location.

Many thanks for volunteering the stream.

    Thanks again, Mech1

Ok we gotta sort out the feed sharing on this if its gonna work well, How about you feed all ground control, rescue, aer lingus ops and ryan air ops etc and i'll stick to the tower, approach, radar type transmissions?

    Thanks everyone for the feedback:D

Now, I want to be ready to switch channels on the days of Bray Airshow and Flightfest.

    http://www.flightfest.ie/

    http://www.brayairdisplay.com/

So if anyone gets a "heads up" on freq that will be in use, please let me know.

On the days above I expect to be feeding Weston / Baldonnell / Newcastle / Eidw airspace as they are all available here, but i need the pilot to pilot freq.

    Thanks again.

It's great, but if you could make the weather a bit more "interesting" too, that'd be super.

What sort of a box did you need? Mine runs with nothing but the atc software.

it's a raspberry pi device. I paid for it. Basically a mini pc that means I don't need to leave a pc on. I'll let you know if I get it working.

That's pretty cool, I would love to run this on a Pi. I wonder if they have an image we can download for it.

for Mech1 frequency enquiry. I expect it will be the same as last year. Keep your eyes on IAA or simtech for pilot info.http://www.simtech.ie/uploads/Bray%20Air%20Display%20final%20Procs%2014th%20July%2011.pdf

Well done Mech1 on getting the Dublin feed up and running. :D

However, a word of caution - I don't think it would be wise for you to include any Baldonnel frequencies in the feed as I'm pretty certain the authorities might get a bit thick with you about it - security of the State etc etc.

Thanks, but its "airband" thats allowed is it not? Im not looking to descramble / hack any special ops freq that they may or may not have, surely if we are allowed to monitor comms that they broadcast on an open freq then its there own fault if everyone hears it.

I would not be too sure about re-broadcasting transmissions from BAL given the Garda helicopter is based there, not too mention other military traffic coming and going. It would be a grey area IMO. You don't want to upset the powers too much or you could end up in a situation similar to the UK where no feeds are active.

Under the broadcasting act, technically, you are not allowed to listen to any airband frequencies unless you have a reason too. Impossible to enforce but they would be well within their rights to tell LiveATC to kill the feed.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,149 ✭✭✭Mech1

Yeah I had a think about it last night and decided not to cover Bal due to the possible domino effects on other monitoring / broadcasts. I would like to hear from someone "in the know" as to the exact legal situation on this but that is not for this forum.

So, the Airshows will be covered to the best of my ability without Bal normal use frequencies. But while "they" are locked out of the feed i might just scan for random transmissions on all other airband freq you never know what we could bump into.

Sorry lads, audio lead pulled out by a "ghost" apparently this morning (nobody admitting) so feed has been silent all day even though its listed at liveatc as up!

If you ever notice its down, could I ask anyone to pm me here on boards as I get a phone notification to that.

    Thanks.

I sent this tonight to LiveAtc:

    ________________________________________________________________

Hi Dave, The EIDW feed seems to be working well, always in the top 50 and usually in the top ten!

Anyway a question for you, I want to cover a couple of airshows taking place in the Dublin area this summer, but think I would need permission from the relevant authorities to feed EIME transmissions as it’s a Irish military airbase. Shows are http://www.flightfest.ie/ and http://www.brayairdisplay.com/ I would expect many aircraft would be using the EIME freq on those days.

    Relevant links to this airport.

    https://www.facebook.com/pages/Casement-Aerodrome/139078232777586?rf=180841378620000#

Can you, as in your company, request permission from them to run this feed on those dates? Or how do we go about this? I recommend "The Air Corps Press Office" as listed in the contact section of http://www.military.ie/air-corps

    Thanks,
    Pat.
