It looks like the EIDW/DUB feed to LiveATC.net is down indefinitely. This is bad news. I spent many hours listening to this feed and watching FlightRadar24 at the same time.

Thats a shame. Is it easy to set up one of those feed things so someone could get it back up? Do you have to be near the airport?

The requirements for a feed provider are as follows:

    - Be located somewhat close to the airport (within 15mi/24km)
    - Have "always on" Internet connection (but feed uses only 16kbps)
    - Have an external or attic antenna (for optimum reception, optional)
    - Have audio cable to connect scanner to PC sound card
    - Have computer w/ spare sound card (Windows, Mac OS X, or Linux)

Does that mean the computer must be on 24/7 then?

The previous feed seemed to cover all frequencies used at Dublin Airport. Unfortunately my receiver only manually tunes so can only provide one frequency at a time.

I have an iMac and would have no problem leaving it on 24/7 to keep this service up and running.

How much would a suitable scanner and external sound card set me back?

Am I too distant from the airport?

EDIT: I have an older Apple PowerBook that I could dedicate to this 90% of the time. It has audio in. Would that suffice? How much upstream data would be needed per month to keep the service up?

If I was close I would! Unfortunately, I'm close to Aldergrove. :(

I'm about 15km South of Dublin Airport and about 20m below the threshold of RWY28. Reception of ground transmissions from the airport on my old 1980s receiver is poor. I'll need to look into a better antenna before I put myself forward for this gig.

I used to provide the Audio feed for LFMN tower but am moving to Dublin and will bring my SBS-1er ADS/B + radio with me. I will set it up to feed LiveATC in the US starting April 1st. I will offer Ads/B feed to fr24 too.

EIDW is active again but I can't hear anything. Anyone else having this problem?

Edit: Back down again. I'm guessing it will be up and running very soon.

    Hi,

I've offered my feed to LIVEATC and there is a router on the way from them.

I'll hook it up during the week and hopefully we'll all be back in business.

I see there is now a feed up for the EIDW Tower.

Is it just me or does anyone else find the signal almost impossible to hear? I can hear mostly static and just about hear the transmission in the background. So far I have only used the iPhone/iPad app rather than the website but I assume there shoud be no difference.

Agreed@croostownk,guess it needs some fine tuning.Nevertheless credit to the provider for their effort.

Yes. Fair play to anyone who is prepared to supply the feed.

The reason the feed is hard to hear is due to the cheap antenna used to capture EIDW Tower 118.6. The location is good, though.

Any advice on arials and where to buy a better one would be appreciated. The box is Kenetic SBS1er.

First of all, thanks for offering to provide the feed.

I'm no expert on antennae but I'd imagine a decent discone would do the job. CQ Comms in Dublin CC sell them but you might get better value on eBay and the like.

I used to use a discone years ago in Templeogue that was mounted on the side of the house about 20m high and with an old manually tuned receiver I used to pull in aircraft on the ground quite clearly.

I see the feed is still down. I would be more than happy to supply it if anybody can point me in the direction of an inexpensive receiver. I live pretty close to EIDW and have an external antenna.

It would be great to have the EIDW receiver back up & running. Really enjoy listening to it on my liveatc app.

It'd be great if we could get that feed we had during the big storm a couple of months ago.

    This too shall pass.

It was me that supplied that feed, and I have today emailed liveatc to register my interest in providing the feed to them. we will see what happens.

Looks like my stream request has been granted :D. Liveatc software running and EIDW3 should be live on the system soon, it is already live to them, just gotta be put live on their side.

Good work Mech, and thanks again for the feed during the high winds a few months back. That was the best thread ever and wouldn't have been half as good without the feed!

Looks like you beat me to it! I still have the request in with liveatc so I will see if I can set up a feed anyway. Maybe I can provide a different feed, I can feed ground if you are doing the tower or the other way round. I am pretty close to the airport so can generally hear both sides of the ground conversation.

    Good man and thanks!:)

Will you be providing just one frequency or will you have your scanner set to scan through the various EIDW frequencies?
