Opinions on an 06 Octavia 1.4

On search for a second car and came across above car, what I cant seem to confirm on net if they use the same 1.4 golf engine that loves burning oil If the 06 model engine is better i may go see this car tomorrow, also is there any main things to look for in these cars, any common faults in them? Cheers

I think there is another thread about the same thing a few pages back.

I'm not sure of faults,,etc....Only thing I do know of is that the 1.4 is very very underpowered.
