Everyone collects something, even if it's something intangible. The hoarding instinct needs an outlet. I'm sure there are plenty of women who collect stamps, but they won't walk up to you and introduce themselves as stamp collectors outside of a stamp collecting convention (do these exist?).

Well, my guess, based purely on you op, is that women don't like you because you think so little of them, not because you like stamps!
I don't even know if I know any women who like fast cars and are that materialistic!
Honestly, can't think of a single woman I know who is like that!

OP you don't need to be obnoxious, violent and drive a flashy car.

I'm mild mannered and unassuming. While I'm no Brad Pitt, nor am I suave and sophisticated- I've done OK over the years with the opposite sex. You simply need to get out and meet people. Be friendly, talk, laugh and be at ease with yourself. Soon enough you'll click with the right person and you won't have time anymore for your hobby!

I do know some women who are that shallow and materialistic, I avoid them, but they exist. in my youth I had a flash car and a bucket of cash, ye get the ride often enough but none of them were really memorable as people, just a blur of alcohol soaked encounters with people I didn't respect and i suspect didn't really hold themselves in high regard if that's what they sought for fulfilment

OP a little advice- dress well, talk in complete sentences, be polite,
however, avoid - showy/tryhard clothing, talking bollox, being a doormat ,

embrace spontanaity

Oh yeah, I know they exist! I just don't know any personally. So my point was really that those types of values aren't something I've ever liked in a person, so I would never befriend them, and they would never befriend me. I'm never in contact with anyone like that - I guess you tend to radiate more with people you feel some sort of connection with.
So the op needs to stop going for women like that, and stop assuming all women are like that.

I like fast cars, that's why I own one.

Seriously OP, how old are the women you're going for generally? Like so many other posters before me have pointed out, these kinds of materialistic, vacuous and empty-headed ladies aren't as prevalent as so many men would have you believe. For me (and seemingly other people in this thread) it's not about what you have in your pockets, what you drive or what you do for a living, it's about attitude, demeanour and respect.

Would you have had that attitude if the stones were worth a lot of money... say they were diamonds, or sapphires, for example?

I'm not criticizing you, just that our attitudes are themselves so strange... They guy had a harmless interest in stones, and because they were the stones that were not the stones enjoyed by onlookers, onlookers thought he was a weirdo.
