Huge riots in Stockholm for the past 5 days and it seems a bit under-reported

So for the past 5 nights, there have been widescale riots in Stockholm, Sweden, and the majority of the media outlets have not been focusing on this, instead including tiny articles here and there like nobody cares.

Dragged this one off google: http://www.rawstory.com/rs/2013/05/24/stockholm-riots-stretch-into-fifth-night/
More than a dozen cars were torched and schools, shops and a police station were set ablaze as riots swept through Stockholm’s immigrant-dominated suburbs for the fifth straight night, police and firefighters said Friday.

Police plan to call in reinforcements to help quell the riots, but parents and volunteer organisations who have patrolled the streets in recent nights have helped decrease their intensity, police spokesman Kjell Lindgren said.
The riots have shattered Sweden’s image abroad as a peaceful and egalitarian nation, and sparked a domestic debate about the assimilation of immigrants, who make up about 15 percent of the population.

Firefighters were dispatched to 70 different locations in greater Stockholm overnight, extinguishing torched cars, dumpsters and buildings, including three schools, the fire department wrote on Twitter.

That was calmer than the previous night, when they handled 90 incidents.
Lindgren said 13 people had been arrested, between the ages of 17 and 26, but no injuries were reported.

One of the rioters in the suburb of Husby told Swedish Radio that racism was rampant where he lived, and that violence was his only way of being noticed.

“We burned cars, threw rocks at police, at police cars. But it’s good, because now people know what Husby is… This is the only way to be heard,” said the rioter, identified only by the pseudonym Kim.
In Rinkeby, one of the city’s immigrant-dominated areas, six cars parked alongside each other were torched, according to an AFP photographer on the scene.

Other links I found are here

It seems most of these riots are caused by immigrants in the immigrant dominated area's.
And in related news, Sweden recently became the rape capital of the world, defeating South Africa. Although the stats are a bit questionable to be honest, but that doesnt mean they should be ignored. Anybody care to guess why?

I'm probably going to be immediately regarded as a racist, seeing as thats how things tend to work these days, but its clear there is some serious immigration and cultural issues in sweden that need to be sorted out. But people are too afraid to say anything, referring to me previous point.

As I said, small articles and reports here and there. Sky News, RTE, BBC, nor Al Jazeera have it on the front pages of their websites. To be honest I'm only surprised at Al Jazeera for this seeing as they're a decent news source unlike the first 3 listed :p

That's funny because I've seen it on the Irish Times, Irish Independent, RTE, BBC, Wall Street Journal, Washington Post to name a few.

There are little no injuries. They're riots, but not particularly violent ones, therefore less newsworthy. If they start rioting like the middle east and 20 or 30 people per day are being killed, then you'll see it everywhere.

Meh, it's Stockholm. The riots will probably turn out to be some art statement about life.

    In short, I don't care.

I'd be careful citing Sky News. All day on Sky News may mean that it 'is' news, but may also mean that it 'was' news, but that nothing else that could qualify as 'news' to Sky News has happened in the intervening period.

Do some people just hang around waiting for news stories which aren't in the US so they can make this comparison?

    Every.damn.time.

It was in the news. It's news. Try harder.

Ok fine, I changed the title to keep you all happy. My point still stands, but thats not the main issue I wanted to discuss.

    Broader legal definition of rape.

I could say it's because of the nasty brown terrorists if you'd prefer though?

Its be reported in the Irish Times all week. But people dont like to acknowledge the integration of migrants in society in some countries hasnt worked as well as it should. The unemployment rates for people who arent ethically swedes is considerable higher than average. I think immigration is fantastic whether people are skilled or unskilled and willing to integrate into society. But if you live with people of your own race and dont get a decent education its a recipe for disaster.

Can't have been, they have been in Woolwich since 2.30 on Wednesday.

The relative under-reporting of five days of rioting is curious, if it were New York, London, Paris, (Munich) everyone would be talkin' about pop music rioting.

People don't riot because they're immigrants. They riot because they're poor and feel excluded.

You only start trashing stuff once you feel you've nothing left to lose.

Periodic episodes of social unrest in urban environments are a fact of life. The only newsworthy thing about this riot is that it's happening in one of the most non-belligerent countries in Europe, with a traditional reputation for social order and civility.

and the poor tend to end up all in the same place, usually due to market forces but as a policy in some cases which doesn't help.

Are you serious what would our immigrants got to riot about ,welfare ,social housing ,education,, negative equity, having to move to foreign land to keep roofs over there families heads ,
