Lads polo's going for nct on wednesday. Have a warning light that pops up every few days and then disappears again.
What's the story with the nct and warning lights?
    It's the engine management light.
Is it an automatic fail if there's a warning light or if everything else is fine then she's good to go?

Get it scanned as what is bringing on the light may lead to a fail. Coil pack or EGR. It's an automatic fail on diesels though.

It's getting serviced the week after the test.
Still has 2 and a half months left on the nct but decided to do it early as I'm thinking of buying something different.

So if it fails its not a be all and end all, as ill then have some extra stuff for the mechanic to look at. If it passes, ill be getting him to run diagnostics on it to find and fix the fault. Main concern was whether or not a warning lights a straight fail or not.

The thing is lads, im scrapping the car, and I want to get the diesel out of the tank before it!

Cut a bit of hose and put it into the tank, such the diesel up into your mouth , spit it out and voila, diesel should flow.

If you don't like the taste of diesel buy a syphon, tthere's a guy in the Limerick market selling them to Mr.Shady and Mr.Shady as **** for legal purposes, lol.

is there a primer bulb for the diesel in the engine bay??

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,302 ✭✭✭Supergurrier

    Thanks.

Doing my bits and bobs getting ready for it tomorrow now.

Just take your time and be calm and you will be fine.

Watch junctions and be prepared to take minor fault on progression rather than risk a red. Also stay sharp on way back to the center even of u think u flew it

I put my car up for sale because a certain car came available and I thought I'd go for it if I sold mine. But I don't think it's possible to go for that one anymore.

But I've got it in my head now that I want to change anyway. So I'm back looking out for cars.

So I'll be on the lookout for something no higher then 9000 euro, any size engine, over 200 bhp, proper back seats, comfort, and not too flash.

    Test drove a 00 M5 last Sunday along with 04 S4 auto.
The M5 felt its age inside but what power and excitement and noise. it didn't feel its size at all, felt much smaller.
The S4 was much cleaner. It still had great power but not the drama of the M5. It felt more comfortable and an easier daily car.
Would there be a big difference between the auto and manual?

S4 or 645ci I would be having at that budget don't like b6 s4 design much tho

How bout you save a boat load of cash and buy my '00 740i? :)

But of those two, S4s need Forced Induction and mods to get fun, way too predicable in standard guise to really get passionate about them.. same as all S-cars IMO. Manual makes a difference, but the AWD'ness and light, numb steering will still be there. In fairness though, the M5 competes with the RS6, not the S4.

I do like the 6 series ive iften thought sbout it but it would stand out too much, especially diving it into work, sounds stupid I know but 6/7 series and big mercs would be out.

I did notice the light steering even compared to the TT it was lighter. I didn't mean to compare them directly but they were in the same price range.
I'll be looking at a 330ci clubsport tomorrow which I'd be happy with IF I can sell mine

I know, easier said than done.
Especially when they don't realise how cheap these cars are at the moment

The 6 MPS will be an option this time, not a fan of the 3.
    335 too high for now.

I'll probably have to buy from a dealer.

I find the steering my my Mk1 TT to be on the heavier side (in comparision to some modern cars).

It's strange, is there a reason for it being so heavy?
I saw the DS5 on fifth gear, it looks well.

Been thinking about getting a 2nd car as a runaround (something cheap, reliable and more than 2 seats) :)

What's the best way to go about insurance?

I've two cars insured with Axa. One is a Laguna and the other a Micra and both are fully comp for around €750. I just explained that one was a runabout and I wouldn't do more than 5k in a year in it. They have never asked for proof and it must be 5 or 6 years ago now since I first insured both.
