There's nothing quite like the feeling of dread when it stops working.

Or that another 2hrs might get whittled away trying to configure it out

Close shave, almost resorted to using teletex there in desperation.

I've got Vodafone Home Broadband and it was down for about 20-30 minutes , i wasn't too bothered till I got my phone out of my pocket which is on meteor , and no reception from it either . And I normally get around 5mbs . Calls and texts but no 3G 😯 It's gone back to normal now but what caused it all to crash ? And not only that but the house and area I've been living in , we have never had a power outage in over 5 years , but in the last day , the power has cut out 3 times ???

Ah shur, UPC goes down every 2 week for a few hours. At least we more consistant uptime than them, with their fancy high speed internet.

Years ago we had to make our own entertainment at this time of night, or else go to bed. Yous should be thankful.

I still have no DSL out here. If it's a DNS issue is there another server I can enter into the router?

I actually had to use Yahoo for once. Everything else was grand

Because people generally these days dont remember URLs or use bookmarks and instead just google everything and therefore think google = the whole internet it might give the impression that the whole internet was down

This reminds me of the time I caught the ferry over to Shelbyville. I needed a new heel for my shoe, so, I decided to go to Morganville, which is what they called Shelbyville in those days. So I tied an onion to my belt, which was the style at the time. Now, to take the ferry cost a nickel, and in those days, nickels had pictures of bumblebees on 'em. Give me five bees for a quarter, you'd say.

Now where were we? Oh yeah: the important thing was I had an onion on my belt, which was the style at the time. They didn't have white onions because of the war. The only thing you could get was those big yellow ones...

No. We'll be grand but the meedia will go to town on it. All the journos will be telling their grandchildren about the 'day they had no twitter'

I actually remember the root server failure back in the 90's. The internet still worked but no DNS.
