Will do, i read about that grommet alright, i believe is all about finding balance between wicking good and not flooding the whole thing while in your pocket.
I love its looks and i hope its functionality soon too.

Just ordered a black k100 mech mod and a few extra batteries... My smoktech natural seems to be denting my batteries, so having a telescopic mech around should be nice :)

It was for the first ten people to claim it.

I thought I made it, but no... We can share in each other's pain...

They just didn't want their juices review to be something like "throat hit would be comparable the kind of kick a whale testicles get going through a boats propeller. would thoroughly recommend."

I know I'm asking the same old question......but why is everybody gone mad buying mechanical mods? Am I missing something obvious?

They look great, especially compact ones that use 18350 etc but surely the whole voltage drop thing must be a PITA? Or does everybody use a kick with them? Or what???????? Tell me!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,096 ✭✭✭Mr. Chrome

Think its curiosity for alot of people, have to say, of all the mods they are the sexiest especially in 350 mode. I know a guy that reckons he gets a better vape from them (no frequency cycle getting in the way) but I dont really notice myself.
I have a brushed rsst on a brushed paps and it looks the dogs, like a baby hybrid but I dont think it gives a better vape than a vv.
I think the main thing with a mech mod is making the coil to suit the battery but with a vv the resistance doesnt matter that much.

I have very limited experience with mechs...but I must admit the DS I got off here, paired with my Aga T does look very pretty...and vapes like a beast. My Vamo is currently feeling very left out of the party!

Easiest way for those in the know to bump up to many-coil-mode (3/4) and probably the easiest way for relative newbies to bump past 15watts. The battery does last longer, and the vape feels... Analogue...not as in cigarette, but smooth... Inconsistent, like vinyl. Might be different for single coils but I can feel it tapering off mid-inhale.
Then I leave it for a while and the battery feels more powerful...and tapers off mid-inhale.

20watt kick needs to be made NAO!!!

For a lot of people mechanical mods are a way that they can vape really really low ohm coils... VV/VW mods won't fire if the coil is lower than ~1.2 ohms, but with a mechanical mod you can vape at whatever resistance you like. I get almost 30 watts with a .6 ohm coil on a mech, most regulated mods couldn't even dream of pushing that through a coil.

That being said, there is a dangerous aspect to low ohm coils. If you go past the amp limit on a specific battery, there's a chance the whole thing could blow up in your face.

I do love those clouds though...

0.6 ohms!!!! How the heck can you vape that???? Must burn the throat and lungs off??

I bet there's a load of people using clearo's and stuff on them too though.

Dunno if I'd go to 0.6 ohm...quite happy with creating my own weather system at 0.9 ohm :D

Not at all! As long as you get enough juice to the coil nothing burns, and with a modified airhole (drilled out to 1.5mm for me) you just get nice warm clouds of rich rich vapor.

I really want to go lower or experiment with dual coils, but I'm keeping it above .6 for the sake of my batteries. As soon as I get my hands on some MNKEs I can start really messing around with this stuff :)

I'm gasping here for a vape, as I broke my two T2s and all I could find was the crappy wee cart set-up that comes with the EGO-C.

    it.
    is.
    rubbish.

going old skool here but its still best side by side comparison within a time frame, still have some left i there to use in other atties n dripper

I agree Stefan I think you made the right choice. Don't lesson to the haters with their fancy bulli/spheroid/nimbus/chi/astro/genesis only fanboy fascism. Rock on the ego battery and cartomiser I say!

Seriously though, easier to pop a pack of fresh cartomisers open than build a new coil for every juice to get a clean subjective taste test. As you say the good ones you can try in a dripper later.

Let us know how you get on. Some of the juice reviews on this site though you'd think we're all wine connoisseurs so we'll be expecting critic worthy writes ups no less than 500 words on each. Hence why I purposely did not put my name forward for these testing and review procedure.

I don't notice any severe voltage drop (sub 1ohm coil), it tapers off quickly from 4.1 but stays at the 3.7 mark for hours.

I've had plenty of electronic mods and all lasted about as long as their first fall (which was often) :p

As you mentioned they look better and 18350 versions are so freaking easy to carry around.
The battery does last longer, and the vape feels... Analogue...not as in cigarette, but smooth... Inconsistent, like vinyl. Might be different for single coils but I can feel it tapering off mid-inhale.

    Love it :p

If they bring out a 20 (or even 15watt) kick i'll buy one yesterday though.

True though, maybe it's an 18350 thing - probably not ideal for dual-coils factoring in voltage drop. I'll have to get a volt-meter to record the steady dwindle.
