Dating sites and agencies

:(I have a serious gripe about a particular new agency in Dublin for which I will not name.

I'm in my mid thirties, single, and it is bloody hard in Ireland. I relunctantly joined a few dating sites, but found that most of the men were happy to stay behind the keyboards talking about nothing in particular - actual face to face meeting are few and far between.

I'm attractive, no supermodel, but attractive, pretty and fit. I'm intelligent and caring and love a good laugh. Therefore, having had enough of the bloody dating sites I decided to join this Dating agency in Dublin after seeing them on national TV. It looked very promising to begin with. You have a chat by phone or email first - then arrange a 30 to 40 minuite interview as such. They take your passport - so everything is above board. Boy though they are typical sales people. They told me they would definately take me on as I didn't have the same expectation some of the other woman have and once I paid the fee of 500 they would start matching me up - I would get five dates for this. I left believing this is something very different - I was so hopeful.

However, having not heard from them for eight weeks I gave them a call - they said they had an influx of business since the TV show - and said give the another couple of weeks. It took them 12 weeks to find a date a "suitable match" - they booked the restuarant.

I arrived to find someone who was a very nice man, but in absolutley no way compatible with me on any level. I'm an urban girl - he spoke about his farm all night - I didn't get his or his outlook for life - The date was extremely constrained because of the complete and abvious incompatibility - I was so humiliated because in the end he wanted to see me again and I had to tell him why I didn't.

I was fuming to say the least - I waited until the Monday to ask how, after so many reinsurance, could they get it so wrong? How do they match people - complete silence on all accounts. They even contradicted themselves by saying I had too many expectations where as in the beginning they told me I did not. The experience was the worse I have been through with this dating lark. Apparently I am only entitled to a prorata refund.

Has any else had similar, worse, or better experiences???

Hi, I am glad you posted this as I was seriously thinking of signing up with them! I would carefully read the terms and conditions of what you signed up for and if they are coming up short they should be brought to task over this. Maybe legal advise? €500 is alot of money.

I'm a male mid 30's. I invested alot of time in online dating but to be honest it was a complete waste of time. Lots of browsing profiles and sending mails but zero replies! In my experience, and lots of people I have spoken to, online dating is not the solution.
I have tried speed dating and I found this very good. Its a fun night and I got some dates from it. Definately recommend it. I also find the bar scene OK. Best thing is get out of your comfort zone. Join meetup, go out with new people, you'll be forced to make an effort.

OP - this appears to be more of a Consumer issue, possible misrepresentation on the part of the agency. This is not the purpose of PI/RI.
Might I suggest you try the Consumer Issues forum or the Hosted Online Dating Forum - as it is a hosted forum you will need to request access, here is a thread in The Gentleman's Club with details on how to request this access.

    All the best
