The GTX 780 looks insane, any benchmarks yet?

Why do AMD go for more memory on their cards than Nvidia?

    Could be a marketing thing.

Rumours based on specs indicate it'll be around 25% faster than a 680. 3PM on Thursday is when the NDA lifts.

I think it might finally be time to sell on my CF 6950s then!

I really doubt that anyone with 670 and 680 needs even think of upgrading. Unless you need horse power for 1440p and tripple monitor setups. Still, no confirmation on price. Who knows, if you will go multiple display way, maybe you better off buying 2x7970 or 2x7950 3gb versions instead of 1 780.

Im looking to buy maybe 10meters of clear tubing (10mm-13mm) and (13mm-19mm) just to have a decent stock of it and Im wondering if anyone here has located somewhere you can buy it in Ireland thats fairly cheap.

Like the stuff on Specialtech isnt cheap and fairly adds up when you are looking for 20meters of it. Its not like its anything special either. Im sure its used for many other purposes. Any ideas?

I wouldn't bother buying that much tubing at honest to be honest. It's nice to have some spare lying around if you need it, but odds are you'll end up with yellow tubes within a year with that much extra.

But do you always buy from one of them UK sites?

Pretty much, yeah. As far as I'm aware, nowhere in Ireland stocks any water cooling gear. That said, if you're just looking for tubing, surely a DIY place might have some? As far as I know, water cooling uses fairly standard tube and fitting sizes when compared to plumbing and the like.

Ya i have had a look in a few places without luck in the last week or so. Wondering if anyone else has tried before!

    Cheers

Will people stop rubbing it in about getting it in December, so many of us will not get it for years :(

Thought about building a year ago but decided against it in the end, anyone tell me how much it would cost to build a system that could play games? All games not just some ;)

Just looking for a general idea of the price

Are you including a monitor? Say... €750 including a monitor would get you a decent enough system. Now, you can always put more money in. If you wanted all games to run really well with high frame rates, it could head to €1000 and well above it. Have a look at the various builds that people ask for at varying budgets. Bits like OS and monitor can add quite a bit to a system and isn't included in every build.

The whole lot, 1000 looks like it'll build something amazing but I don't really want to go overboard, while at the same time I don't want to need to upgrade to play new games soon. Wanted to do some rendering as well so might need a bump for that.

    Cheers

Does anyone have a cd-key for COD4 perchance they would sell, or know where to get one for a decent price? Lost my cdkey, have a serious hankering for COD4....

Email customer support and they should give you a new cd key, as long as you have a pic of your disk etc.

If the rendering makes good use of multiple cores, the AMD 8320 or 8350 CPUs would be ideal choices. Its extra cores are not as valuable in gaming as in environments such as encoding/rendering. Also depending on the software, you might even be able to use the video card too.

Something like a 7870 would last you quite a while in the gaming world.

Here's a quick build thrown together that you could use. If you want to think about it a bit more and tweak it, it would be worth your while opening a new thread to more clearly define your needs.

No promises but if I can find the box I should have one I'll probably never use again. Will PM if I manage to dig it out.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 29,930 ✭✭✭✭TerrorFirmer

Actually just bought it, don't have the original box anymore either, just a burnt disc and the manual, which I lost, so the support option would have been out as well. Thanks for the offer Marco!

    I just enjoy my UPC.

Had to move away from my beloved UPC. =(

Never mind this fibre rollout, I'd be happy if Eircom just supplied the speeds they promise. I can actually see my cabinet from where I'm sitting at the moment and I still only get ~50% of the promised speeds.

No surprise there since the dslam is at the exchange so who know how much copper wire is between you and it.
