Modem Router with user/device control

I am looking for a modem router (eircom) and basically need to be able to restrict use from time to time (son supposed to be studying!) I got a netgear N600 and was told this would do the job ie block xbox/ipad from wifi/lan, but this doesnt seem to be the case or am i missing something any help appreciated!

It will do it, its called MAC filtering or Blocking. Find out the MAC address of his devices and when you want to block them add them to the blocked list.
