calculating ground floor area P/A

Does anyone know how you calculate the ground floor area for working out insulation u values. Do you calculate the perimeter of the ground floor, or do you calculate the perimeter of each room and then divide by the area?? Just a bit stuck on this at the moment, your help would be great.

I think you are looking at the exposed perimeter of the ground floor, ie, any area of the perimeter that would have heat loss.
Just to note this would not include party walls for a semi-detached house.
So you just take the external perimeter if its a detached house.

Although if you consider that the internal walls in a traditional build they are considered thermal bridges and therefore have heat loss attributed to them aswell. But i just need what the insulation providers require of a P/A value and i think your right. thanks.
