084 worked the weedspray from the Bray direction passing Blackrock at 1340 today. Caught me completely unawares, no pic :(

Thanks for that I'd read the post on the phone and completely confused it! I thought pointsman was saying the 09:30 was still in Dublin somewhere. 084 is elusive the last sighting I had of her was at the Dublin end of the loop at Sallins she was there for a good 30 mins but without actually entering the railway I couldn't get a clear view.

Irish Rail's 071 class No.083 works a Westport-Waterford laden timber train seen between
    Castlerea & Roscommon on 23-July-2010.

Hi, I was over in Ireland on Friday and unexpectedly had the pleasure of 084 arriving at Drogheda on the Weed Killer where it ran round and headed back north around 12.15. I met up with her again at Clontarf Road returning south to North Wall around 5.25pm. It is in a bit of a state but sounded superb! Last repainted in August 1999? No wonder she's in bits!

Wasn't the old girl starting to be sorted out body wise until she had to be put back into service because nothing else was free ? It was in rough order then from the pictures.

Think they just patched up some bad spots around the cabs with body filler. It looks like 077, 078 and 087 were in a worse state than 084 at the time with rust problems so 084 was left out while the rest were selected for the body work overhauls. Back in 2005/2006 the plan was for 12 of the 18 071s to get overhauled and repainted in freight livery while the other 6 withdrawn as and when they had a big failure or needed a major overhaul.

Thankfully that plan was changed to a keep them all going, saving 077,078,084 and 087 and another 2 071s in the process. The strange thing is that, at the time not all of the 14 freight liveried 071s got overhauls with their repaints, just lick of paint and sent back out.

The doors were wide open as well. Have the ones who didn't get the overhaul now got it now ? That new numbering system will be balls to read unless its sitting in front of you. The 2600s have the numbers as well but the one I got to Midleton had different colours for the 26xx number and the others were silver.

Weather CTC were informed or not, it doesn't matter. Its not as if he is causing a problem like most other people who trespass on rail lines. Local signalling staff know that people video in the area and most of the drivers have no problem with it.

Yes when people are not causing problems, its not as if he has placed items on the line or throwing rocks.

Does everybody in society always have to be so politically correct.

If you look at other videos by him you will see nobody has a problem with it even the odd one which has IE staff in the distance.

Thank you. I share my videos on the internet for others to see and they come along and dislike my videos. The driver waved at me for one and I got permission from the owner of the surrounding fields to get to the spot.

I suppose you're all-knowledgeable about the situation are you? You're the one misinformed and you're being a complete bigot with assumptions that have no place on these videos. I have knowledge of that area and the bank is a safe distance away from the line, it is an embankment that poses no threat to any trains. In gm's other videos you can see he takes effort in making sure he doesn't cause even the slightest disruption by contacting the signalman for permission. Your ignorance is judgmental and your assumptions almost malign.

Yes, I read that some were only painted and not overhauled, 074 and 085 I think we're two that were only repainted and maybe 071 as well considering it has only just been done?

So by my reckoning : 072/073/075/076/079/080/081/082/083/086 & 088 were the ones overhauled back in 2006-08 and possibly one more to make it up to 12?

Happy to be corrected on this though

Waterford-Rosslare line will now be done in June, NTA have told them to do it as well as any other work if required as part of the agreement.

077 rolled through Killester at 14:20 with tara empties. The new livery looked really good in the sunshine and the only thing grubby are the bogies despite being on tara duties since re entering service.

Only noticed now that 071 didn't get the cab side logos like 077 did. Didn't take long for variety to appear like the way 075 didn't get it's IE yellow face logos for the freight livery.
