The last time I was in Texas I ate at the Big Texan Steak Ranch. It's best known for its 72 ounce steak. The steak is free to anyone who can eat the meal in one hour or less. The meal consists of the steak itself, plus bread roll with butter, baked potato, ranch beans, shrimp cocktail, and salad; otherwise, the meal costs $72.00. Those who have successfully consumed the meal have their names recorded and posted at the restaurant. It was quite interesting.

    :)

Don't have to go to Texas for that. They do it in Spur in liffey valley :L

    screams of attention whoring

there are other less fatal ways to get attention though

think there was a thread here on someone dying after winning one the other week?

whatever about dying, its pretty ****ed up though
I like food, well dont dislike it so much that Id like to shovel heaps and heaps and heaps and heaps and heaps of the same thing into me as fast as I can
well except a whole terry's chocolate egg or a full packet of one of the big bags of galaxy minstrels in one go over about a half hour. but at least they taste good and are loaded with sugar and cocoa, quite the headrush
Now I know why girls like chocolate so much, its like a brain orgasm!

Not competitive eating, but I've tried competitive drinking.

The centurion, is where you attempt to drink 100 shot glasses of beer in 100 mins, one shot every min....

Its harder than it sounds. Gets you completely locked too, ask the Ethiopian taxi driver who's cab I peed myself in, in Sydney after trying it if you don't believe me.

    Wuss.

I'd like to see a competitive **** competition.

There are more competitive eating challenges and organised contests around Dublin than you'd think. You'll find them all here at the Irish Competitive Eating Association on Facebook :

Aussie BBQ is doing an all you can eat challenge, current champion ate three burgers.

I love watching Man vs Food. I'd never enter an eating challenge because I have a tiny appetite, but it's funny to watch.

I would possibly manage to eat about a third of one burger. :o

Nathans hot dog eating competition in Coney Island NY was won for years by some small Japanese(i think) fella.
But yea it is kind of an American thing

There was a discovery show I think where that Asian guy took on a bear at eating hotdogs. It was a show about humans who were the best at something taking on animals. The bear won obviously. I mean it was a half tonne bear. But they guy ate a huge stack of hot dogs in minutes. He was barely chewing or swallowing. The funny thing was he was not in any way overweight.

Judge Roy Beans in Newbridge does a 64Oz Steak eating challenge, seems like a popular enough one.

Have to finish it in one hour along with chips and coleslaw or it's 60 or 70 euro, something like that.

I tried one at home when I was 10 against my brother where we cut up a whole tin of spam into cubes. I'd never had spam before and it started out ok and now I can't even look at the stuff.

It's just such a waste of food and you don't even enjoy it.

For a "pro" eater and a fat lad yer man on man v food cant eat for shyte... some of the challanges he fails look totally doable, and i definatly know people that could beat him.

I done the woolshed platter, large chicken wings and a mexican panini in one sitting last year.... and as soon as i could move went for a mcflurry.... went to sleep for around 3 hours after to recover

As it states on the intro "I'm no competitive eater, I'm just a guy with a big appetite"

I've never seen him do a challenge that looked doable though, they all look ridiculous!

The ones that are heat challenges, rather than eating massive amounts of food challenges look do-able. I think I could manage 6 chicken wings drenched in sauce made with habaneros, ghost peppers and whatever other spicy stuff they put on it.

I dunno, I remember getting a VERY hot sauce before and challenging people to do a shot of it for €50.
Everyone was up for it until they sampled a fingernail piece of it on their tongue and needed 4 pints of milk to cool themselves down!

I make sauces with habaneros, ghost peppers, scotch bonnets, etc etc, quite regularly. I can handle spicy food. :pac: It's one of the few things food related that I love. Can't handle the milk, though. Fcuking allergies.

^ Yeah come to think of it I remember that now

I said some of the challenges look doable, most are insane and I wouldn't stand a chance. Spicy stuff does seem to be his Achilles heel but I love ridiculously spicy stuff, he's good but no pro and neither am I.

The most impressive one I've seen him do was the 24 oysters. I wouldn't stand a chance there.
