    Probably that and a 4X4 too. ;)

If you're looking for a Diesel 4x4 may I suggest the 3.1 TD Izusu Trooper. :)

    Now back on topic..

    Well, Imagine that! :P
    Years test
    No Tax
148,000 Miles, I really would expect about 480,000 (atlest) miles out of one of these bad boys.

My guess would be an engine swap.

    Hi folks,

I bought this Volvo S70 2.5L (Posted on this thread), to have as a spare car for 3 months so it is very soon surplus to my requirements. I thought I'd post it on here before listing it on donedeal. The POs details on it are below. All I've added are Xenon bulbs for the heads, dimmers and fogs and new sparks.

It's a very comfy car, packed with modern features. The PO spent a lot of money on the leather seats (from a 100K mile car) and I'm tempted to keep the front seats and make them into armchairs :)

There were 194,626 miles on it when I got and now there are 198,231 on it. There is loads of life left on the engine.

I'm looking for €350 for it and will list it on Dondeal for €450 in about a week. Tax runs out at the end of May. PM me if you're interested! Cheers, Enda.

"Comes with Fsh, sunroof, air conditioning Electric windows front and rear

    Boot spoiler

    front seats are Heated Leather

    Replacement PCV fitted

    New engine Top Mount fitted

    New oil filter and change

    Almost new tyres

    Timing Belt & Clutch replaced

    Clean alloys

Car has been flash code read and has no error codes and showing the normal 1-1-1 Flash code stipulating no errors

    Each bumper corner has scrapes

    NCT until 13-07-13

Fitted 6 stack boot CD player

Gear changes are smooth and fuel economy is actually very good. Get 31.6-32.4 mpg Urban and 38.9 - 40.6 mpg Extra Urban due to 10valve set up (I'm averaging 29.9 on mostly short journeys)

This car needs nothing done to it I'm a volvo enthusiast so look after my cars"

    And some pics:

Free bump. That's a spotless car and if I could afford a 2.5l tax and insurance I'd be getting that!

Since when was there an engine size limit on the bangernomics thread? Sure that was half the interest, seeing 100k+ S classes, 7 series and jags at sub 2k prices!

Facelift is the giveaway. Those 3.0's are rubbish!

Don't post here a whole lot but thought the criteria was sub €2k and sub 2L. ;)

As compared to the 3.1 but hardly an accurate statement in general  I put over 200k on one without any major probs and know of many others that were exactly the same - hardly rubbish!

One goes past the house every so often, blue smoke scutterin out the back..... Uncle had 2 of them, both blew the turbos. The yard had 2 last time I was there, when I asked why they were there they said one wouldn't start and the other had injector issues.

I'm sure there are many, many more stories of similar experiences...... ;)

My guess to the bad rep would be poor maintainance, the norm in this country!

OK at nearly 1500e it's a bit over priced but with a fresh NCT (I assume it's meant to say NCT until Apr 2014) and a full file of history I think it would be a worthy workhorse for many more miles

Personally, I'd buy that Rover instead of holding out for a 'nice' W201 - which, as you said, are rare these days...

Seriously, if the Rover is as good in the flesh as it reads in the ad, go for it. Long NCT, 9 months tax.

Bargain hard, get it for €900, and you're laughing.

The Rover does look like a good 'un, but Tipp is a fair bit of a spin, and herself, who will also be driving the new purchase, isn't overly keen on the Rover. I've had a look at a couple of W201s recently, so they are out there, its just the matter of getting the right one.

With a 2.0 petrol auto Id hazard a guess at mid to high 20's mpg. Maybe better on a long run.

Don't know much about them besides, in relation to mechanical issues etc.

I think even half decent ones are becoming rare and hard to find. This one looks honest.
I like those wheels (don't think they are original to that car though..?? could be corrected?)

    Shame its not an auto.
Knock a few quid off and its a decent jammer with a years test and more than likely very little bother.!
