Love them myself try go as often as I can. You don't go to a nite club to talk more dance the night away. I love the way for a small fee you can leave your jacket in safety; the horror stories I hear about phones robbed in pubs by eastern European gangs in the Star. Its gas when the DJ is building up the set then it just stopped and the lights go on; builds up the hunger for the snack box. Early forties myself and nothing like a cub after the local.

I think it depends on your motivation for going? Aged 20 and still now at 34, for me it's always been about the music... But then you wouldn't find me in a cheese commercial club, but more of a specific night or genre club.

Yeah, I think OP meant "Who's sick of nightclubs by which I mean the 99% of clubs that only play generic garbage created for the sole purpose of wallet-fondling giant slabs of meat with limited motor functions who'll clumsily flop their respective hidden meats at eachother after the club?" but it wouldn't fit in the subject bar.
OP: go to a good club - avoid meat-markets.

I would much rather a quiet pub with good company, decent prices for pints served in a glass instead of a plastic cup. I have no interest in nightclubs anymore, probably because im in a long term relationship though.

Depends on the club. If it's got a good smoking section it's good. The same goes for a pub. Too many pubs have loud music.

Most nightclubs in Ireland are ****e, you realise this after trying other cities like London or Berlin. Pubs are our specialty. However being a 21 year old male in Ireland they are pretty much impossible to avoid so I just get really hammered before hand and then they are usually grand. Even good sometimes.

I'd love a live web cam of the popular nightclubs in ireland.

I could watch them (in my jocks) from the comfort of my living room...then when the time comes for me to hit the bed, i can just head off at my leisure.

I am 20 year old female and for some reason I have come to realise that I hate nightclubs. It breaks my heart having to pay an entrance fee of 10euros, and only able to afford two cheapest drinks available, not enough to get me drunk enough to enjoy the overly loud music and overcrowding. So I am sober and bored out of my mind, trying to get drunken geezers and creeps to keep away from me in a place that is meant to be "great craic" and I am only 20.
I started off going to pubs in my countryside but disliked them because was too many people I knew, too much gossip and drama because the countryside is where everyone knows everyone, and also I did a lot of my immature, drunken crap in those pubs, so that rep is pretty hard to shake off. So I couldn't wait to go to the nightclubs in town, but after two years of the nightclub scene I never thought I'd see the day where I want to go back to the pub scene and to those particular pubs, the people won't change but at least I wont be totally broke by the end of the night and it is not as crowded, even on a birthday party.

I dunno I feel like a boring auld one for hating nightclubs, is there anyone else my age who feels the same?

Iv just turned 24 and dont drink OP, So i dont go to clubs or pubs. My advice if you dont like them dont go, most clubs comprise of a few major key points which i will now describe for your entertainment :pac:

-Theres the women with a different guy each week who've been done so many times when they walk their snizz claps

    - Theres the guys like this who are seen as ''legends'' but in reality probably feels like they are pissing glass from chlamydia

-Theres the perverted old men, usually a handful who just go out to perve and have some material to make their knuckle children once they get home

-Theres the girls who pretend their respectable, yet when drunk if you stood a pencil on its tip they'd try to mount it

    - Theres the guys with the popped polo shirt collars and tight chinos, they'll also mount anything that moves

-Theres the bouncers who just like turning people away because it makes them feel powerful

-Theres the alcohol thats priced 3-4 times above what its actually worth

-Theres the terrible cheesy music so loud it would wake the dead

-Theres the people passing out inside there from too much to drink

-Theres the guys with the chest out and t shirts so tight they look like they've been painted on, usually trying miserably and failing at pulling and end up having some stupid drunken row afterward where there arms flail about till someone falls.

    - Theres the girls and guys that like to drop whatever there wearing and piss on the street/main road or anywhere really

    - Theres the scumbags who cant get in who wait outside, drink cans and prey on drunken people

-And lets not forget the sea of takeway bags/wrappers and vomit left on the street in the wake of this

Yeah typical Saturday where im from....so its no surprise you dont like it OP

Nightclubs in Ireland are sh1t Simple.

I haven't been in a single nightclub in Ireland that wasn't a cattle mart. I'm heading towards my late twenties btw.

Pubs, well a good pub which we have plenty of, no one does pubs better than the Irish. Pubs are where the craic is.

Hate clubs, primarily on the fact that I feel like a sardine in a tin, everything is sticky and I can barely hear anyone so conversations go like:

    Person: "Msdfjklsdfjmvklerigjeorvefogfdckglfd!"

Me: "...............(I have no fùckin' idea what they just said)..........."

If you're sober enough to have a conversation then you're too sober for irish nightclubs in my experience. Just stfu and dance.

Who goes to a nightclub sober? You don't go to a nightclub to get drunk, you go when you are already drunk.

    Drink somewhere else first.
If I have to get plastered just to enjoy something then it's probably not really worth my time anyway.

I wouldn't be the biggest fan of Dublin nightclubs either.

But reading this thread is making me wish i was heading out tonight :P

Alcohol makes most people feel good.

Judging by previous threads and stuff you've mentioned you just need a different group of friends to be honest.
It's not the issue with the clubs.

Late bars ftw, paying 12 quid to queue for most of the night is a pain in the hole

+1 to late bars. No entry fees and no queues. And there's usually a band playing. Makes for a good night.

Ok then..that's grand but if anyone goes out with the right group of friends to a half decent club they're guaranteed to have the craic. Some people just go to a nightclub and can't get past their complaining to actually enjoy themselves once they're there.

    "It's too loud"
    "I don't like the music"
"I want to go somewhere I can talk"
    "I don't like the people"

Jesus, just stfu for 5 minutes and go with it.

That is unless your idea of having fun on a night out is sitting in a quiet pub with some back music on contemplating life and everything about it.

I'd be a fan of nightclubs and late bars and just staying in a pub for the night too. What can I say; I just love being out. Went to a Dimitri Vegas and Like Mike dance set in The Wright Venue earlier on in the year and had a great time. Wouldn't have been my scene at all. I suppose what I'm trying to say OP is that a night out is what you make of it. ;)

I hate nightclubs, I hate them so very much. When I think about it logically I am paying 5 Euro to go to a place where I am going to be elbowed, stepped on and shoved (because of ridiculous overcrowding, not because that's the natural response I receive from people) I am going to listen to awful, remixed crap, I am going to lose my group of friends that I came in with and then spend the majority of the night trying to find them again, I am going to be involved in a squash to try to get into the toilet, when I get there it will be a horrific seen which you'd think not possible in a first world country,I am not going to find a girl to "shift" because I am not one of these arrogant morons who gyrates wildly with everyone on the dancefloor until he eventually finds a girl desperate enough to get with him, I am going to leave with an irritating ringing in my ear that will stay with me all through tomorrow. I will disperse onto the street where I will witness a couple of fights, some puking, and inevitably a couple sitting in some remote corner who have clearly lost the will to stand. I am paying for this privilege.

And at the end of the night I will wonder what is wrong with me? Why can't I enjoy or be part of the idiotic shouting, dumb dancing, nonsensical screaming and general mayhem. Why would I rather be anywhere else in the world except in the middle of this God forsaken nightclub? I'll leave, with deep questions concerning myself and society in general. I will then return to the nightclub 3 weeks later, hoping it, or I, have changed.

Bold= the only valid critique there, the rest can be applied to almost every CopperGlobeGorby's around the country and the person saying it wouldn't be a bore - they'd just be aware of the mess they've gotten themselves into.
