Used grain - any uses?

Any extract brewers have any tips on what to use used grain for, seems to be a bit of a waste to just bin it.

I left some out, but the birds never touched it (always loads of birds in the garden, the wife feeds them)

could probably be used for Compost if nothing else anyway!

If I'm brewing back home the chickens my parents keep get the used grain.

Here in Dublin I just throw it into a bit of a compost heap I have between the shed and the back wall. It can attract vermin but I don't really care to be perfectly honest. :pac:

I tried making bread once but it was just ok (probably more down to my bread making skills).

I've added a small amount of spent grains - 100 grams - to my white bread recipe and it turned out really good first time.
2nd time ... not so good.... the bread turned out really soggy ... and I think it was due to the fact that the grains were just used and still had lots of water soaked in them.
