honest looking starlet, not the best colour. 11 months test, 2 months tax, asking 700.

I always liked these, im sure they are probably a pig on juice and latter ones tend to be two-tone which i wouldn't be a fan of, but might suit the right person. This one looks clean

    Anyone know much about these?

Comes up as purchased by a dealer on 25/03/2013.

It is a rather strange comment in fairness. Dealers putting a few months guarantee on a used car is quite normal, not that they always honour them but a money back guarantee on a used car is a first for me to see anyway.

Very strange comment to put on a 950 euro car. I'd eat my left shoe if someone did get a cent back from them.

Back to your question king size mars bar. I drove a pre facelift 96 1043cc Polo for a spell. Being honest it didn't have a lot going for it. Was dreadfully sluggish even for a 1.0 litre and despite its low power fuel economy was by no means extraordinary.

It felt incredibly unstable and unsafe at motor way speeds but that could have being down to the narrow tyres that was on it or the somewhat worn rear shocks. I have drove a 1.1 litre Fiesta from the same year and it felt a lot more solid and surefooted on the road by comparison.

I think build quality was only moderate at best. By no means very bad for a tiny 1996 low cost hatch but nothing near as top notch as some VW nuts would have you believe.

The later 999cc fuel injected engine in the model you have linked to is an improvement over the 1043cc I believe. In fairness the one you have linked to is on for pretty good money, especially as it has almost a year NCT on it and if seller will stand over it. If you intend to do quite a bit of motorway driving I would suggest you might be best to look elsewhere though.

Ok on the face of it its by no means bargain buy of the week or even day. But putting this in on the basis that it was just NCT'd within the last few days, has over 3 months motor tax on the windscreen, mileage ain't severe and also on the basis that the owner is actually emigrating and might be inclined to settle for quite a few quid less for a quick clinical hassle free sale. (I know I'm making quite a few assumptions there:P)

thanks for the feedback, to be honest i,d prefer the Fiesta, had 3 of them yrs back and found them to be a solid little car, i,ll stay looking for the time been. have to say this thread is great for help and advice.

Id be all over that if i wasn't outta here in a month :(

What annoys me is the wheels make the car look well in the ad, then the bottom line says he's selling it with those 100+ alloys or whatever they are..,

Bargain though despite the shortish test, once the ss bars are good there's nothing else expensive to replace, the rest of the suspension is basically "bangernomics e10" parts.

Small money for a quick fun car..

Plus its a Trueno too, easier to insure :)

    *paging fanboi :pac:

Heres a rale banger, probably has driven to the sun and back, looks dog rough, but,
get him down under 400 and you have:

Tax till august, test till either june or august........ then 100e for scrap "cashback" :D

Saab 9-5 Vector for €400 or less?

Granted the test expires at the end of the month (but technically still valid so fits in this thread :p )- but some amount of car for the money!

What would peoples opinions be on this: http://cars.donedeal.ie/for-sale/cars/4959617

Looks clean although pics aren't great. A friend is looking to view it but hasn't arranged a viewing as yet.

    Motortax.ie

Reason its relevant is it could be a ball of scrap and your man took a few weeks to realise.

The interior could do with a clean and the background on the pics look like a breakers yard, still good value motoring though IMO. http://cars.donedeal.ie/for-sale/cars/4796915

It's a steal and I love those wheels, but the turbo just gone means the engine is probably next

That said, you'd probably get it for €300. Worth more than half of that in scrappage if worst comes to worst, so not much risk here :D

Anyone any thoughts on this Legacy?

I'd be worried about it being clocked at that mileage. NCT until March. Friend is viewing today.

No pictures of it either, on adverts, excessive use of exclamation marks!!!

    I'd have doubts....

He went to look at it. Took a couple of pics and sent them on. Didn't look bad. Had NCT certs for the last 5 years showing only a couple of thousand miles being done a year. I suppose anything could have been done in the 10 years before that although he said it didn't look worn inside.

Dodgy part though was he said he took it as part exchange on something himself to sell on. Has the log book etc. Told my friend to see if he can contact the previous owner before buying.

Can't really go too wrong though if its driving fine and has a years test from a couple of months ago though can he?

He also said the wife put it up for him on Adverts as he doesn't have a clue about computers. Also asked for 100 more than he advertised it for!
