Have a confirmation email stating DPD will be delivering the box in the coming days. So it looks like ill be installing it myself.

I asked about self-install and was told that it wasn't possible

Are you TV only or do you have BB as well?

BB, TV & Phone. I seem to be part of the second wave who were contacted via email and signed up online. I have yet to talk to anyone.

Someone mentioned before they are trialing the whole sign up process that could include self install in some areas.

You get to keep the router? My horizon box will be located far away from where my router currently lives

Just got a text saying my box will be delivered tomorrow. Then I got a text to say a tech will be out to my house on Thursday morning and then I got an email saying that the box will be delivered Thursday afternoon?

    Also TV, BB & Phone.

I'm also in the second wave but the e-mail I got inviting me to take part only had a 1890 number, no web signup option and the UPC salesman adviser said it had to be an engineer install although I asked for self-install as there's a DPD depot near me so picking it up myself is handier than waiting half a day not knowing when the courier is going to deliver or the engineer is going to arrive.

Had it installed by technician about 5pm. Took just over an hour, again because it was only his 2nd to do. A few error messages at first but he got it all sorted in the end. A few first impression.

New box looks very slick and the GUI looks fantastic.

    Much faster all round.

Sharing files between our HDD Media Player, Galaxy Tablet 2.0, Galaxy S3 iPhone 4 and Windows 7 Laptop is effortless.

The box has frozen 3 times so far but that could be my fault having no patience.

Note also that the remote responds to its orientation (remote/keyboard side) so be sure to hold it straight. Especially if the box seems slow to respond.

Will keep posting as I play around more!

Got a call from DPD looking to deliver it tomorrow but im not around. Rescheduled for Saturday. Maybe ill get a call from UPC to arrange a technician.

Am probably missing something real simple here...trying to login to the horizon box to adjust the NAT settings, xbox is telling me they are set to moderate, I want them set to open. Am assuming you can do it via web interface??

Anyone know what the username/password is?

According to page 84 of the horizon manual on the Swiss support site its admin/admin. Really worth a read for all triallists.

http://192.168.192.1/ Then type admin admin for the username and password Go to advance then setup your xbox as the dmz that should do it or use port forwarding, of course you need to get your xbox IP first

Is the connection for the coax into the back of the box a screw on or plug in type??? Iooks like I'll be self installing myself!!!

Did anyone get a call the day before installation?

Apparently, we missed it, and I rang back and they told me the installation is cancelled for tomorrow because we missed the call, even though we got a auto call yesterday confirming it for tomorrow.

Now, I have to ring back tomorrow and organise everything again :(

Can you confirm that the remote is wireless then ? I saw some reference to that earlier ..
Just hoping that it is, as my box will be in a hidden area and wireless rather than IR would be ideal ..

Just as an FYI if you're connecting your xbox and you get a message from the xbox saying NAT settings on the router are set to moderate, open up the web interface 192.168.192.1, select advanced tab & enable UPnP. You're golden!

I got the 48 hour notice phone call today (for a Thursday install) and it said that I would get another call from the same number on the installation day to give me an estimate of when the engineer will call to me. It didn't say that the installation would be deferred if I didn't accept the call on the day but I'll considered myself forewarned after your experience!

Anyone else getting screen flicker when watching tv, getting a turquoise overlay
Other wise it is pretty cool so far and the DNLA player is quiet good as well

Ordered from their website today, after receiving the follow-up e-mail this afternoon. Also got a text that DPD would be collecting my existing box/Smart card at time of delivery. Haven't received any technician/installation calls, and the instructional e-mail I received tells me to keep the box on standby overnight, so I'm guessing it's going to be a self-install job (or put up with a few days with no telly-box).

My coax cable is currently split between my digibox and router. I presume I can just dump the splitter and have the single cable running to the Horizon box? Any other gotchas from a self-install perspective?

When you getting it delivered? I'll have to go with self install tomorrow hopefully.

Not a happy man here. I was supposed to get my new system installed yesterday between 9am and 1pm. By 12:30, no sign of anyone. So, I phoned. I was passed through just about every dept, each taking my account number and issue, only to be told that someone would have to call me back. By 5pm, no call, so I contacted them again. Again, told that someone would call me back.

Well ... still no call, and still no Horizon setup.

Changed HD settings from 1080p back to 1080i seems to have done the trick but I'll have a look at the Colour Output when I get home.

It will be delivered today. Here's the very brief self-install guide referenced in the e-mail.

Yer man was sitting about my house for a good while, when I went home for lunch as the wife had to go somewhere he was still there, said this screen would go away when registration was complete in UPC, he left I rebooted it and it was going in 2 minutes.

Not sure I love the box yet but its decent, my browsing habbits will need to change, would like to have the pip on channel browsing off, as it slows me down.

Had it installed yesterday. Installer was excellent - same guy who did a complete house install 18 months ago for us.

Moved router from attic where it fed into a 24 port switch to Cat6 around the house. The only delay was getting the provisioning done at the back end - apparently it has been slow to date but getting better.

    Good:
Box is much quieter than the HD one
Interface is slick and generally quick
    Channel change is quick
Remote is excellent quality, keyboard is nice
Updates are coming quick and fast apparently
Guide data appears much quicker than HD box, still not mega fast but v good
Wireless seem better, haven't done proper tests yet
    Runs cooler than HD box
Having one box instead of two saves a bit of power - hopefully

    Not so good so far
Space key doesn't work on keyboard
Moving up and down the menus causes stuttering sometimes
Apps (Twitter, kids games, weather etc) are a nice touch but need a lot of polish. Youtube app allows search and browse but won't play video
Video feed via HDMI is not 1:1 pixel mapping, overscan pushes some of the screen off the edge of my 1080p 40" Samsung - didn't have the same problem with the HD box... Was able to fix the same problem on an XBMC HTPC via software - not sure how I can fix it with Horizon...

Overall, a big step up, should get much better with software updates and for a chage the early adopters are getting a good deal compared to the past where early adopters paid fees which were soon dropped.

I know that on my TV if a video source tries to overscan I can force 1:1 pixel mapping which seems to fix it, perhaps you could search your TV for a similar setting?

Can anyone tell me how reliable the phone line is on the horizon box. I have a monitored alarm so need the phone line to be reliable. I am very unsure as to whether to proceed or not with this.

Got the invite to sign-up via web. Not happy with downgrading phone package so rang number on this thread.
All sorted now and it seems the total cost to me is only a couple of Euros per month.
Engineer coming out Monday. Horizon box will have to be set up to connect to my Netgear Router. Anyone have this setup in place?

Did it say something about unable to complete installation?
