As a matter of interest did you pay with an Irish credit card? My nook UK order was declined due to the credit card payment failing (never experienced this issue before with any other website).

If they happen to get more stock in it'll be interesting to hear how you were successful :)

Dont worry I'll keep people up to date, edited my post to add:

    Purchase Type

    Irish Visa Card
    Parcel Motel Delivery Add
    Parcel Motel Billing Add

My nook, ordered from Nook.co.uk has just moved from Utrecht to Brussels. So at least its on the move. Supposedly will be in UK by end of day tomorrow via UPS.

Ordered one from Littlewoods too, which, if I cant cancel (have tried but not sure if it will go through) I will sell on at cost price if someone needs it.

Edit, just got a very nice email from littlewoods, apparently its too late to cancel my order so will sell on when it arrives. (have had no delivery update or change in status since I ordered but still!)

Has anyone at all, who ordered one from any of the various suppliers managed to get an actual delivery and have it in their possesion now?, excluding store collections I mean.

Good question. At this rate they could be manufacturing to order :D

That's what they're at! Delaying the deliveries to give nook enough time to hand write out all the books which will be required once people get their hands on the readers!! :D:D

Yes, this morning. I have already played it around with it, rooted it, installed android and the play store, played around some more, and it's now in the cupboard collecting dust until my tablet breaks or until someone's birthday comes along.

And you ordered it when and from whom?

Nook UK, and the morning of 30th April. I got it delivered to London though. I also have a second one on the way for my mom via Parcel Motel which is currently in Newtownabbey.

I got the Glolight version from Argos UK through Parcel Motel. Ordered last Wednesday and collected it first thing Saturday morning. Paid the extra for the light version for the extra flexibility at night.

Delighted with it and, as a bit of a Nook veteran as I have the Nook First Edition, the changes in technology in only a couple of years is quite impressive.

Well. I should always take my own advice.
This has gone from bad to worse.
I never use Paypal, and i never wanted to have anything to do with Littlewoods. I should always remember that.

The crap i had with Littlewoods, i can forget, but i'll never use them. Ever.

So... I had €70 on my debit card.

I clicked "Buy" on the Nook website, and (i didn't know at the time) was charged €34.28 + €0.94 FX Commission.
8 hours later, at 01:20AM they emailed me telling me my order had been cancelled.
Fine, I thought. I'll get it somewhere else.
Tried to buy it from a couple of places, and realised I was having some problem. Found out it was insufficient funds.

I wasn't going to top up my card for the sake of €2 or €3. Nook will put the money back quick enough. I can wait until then.
5 days later, it still hasn't returned.
I have emailed Nook 3 times, have got no response from them. Nothing - Except a weekly nook news letter.

So, I decided a couple of days ago, to try Flubit.
I received an offer today, and tried to buy it. When it went to the Paypal Popout, i was presented with: "Error: Unknown Credit Card 783******** ".

I didn't know what that was, so i went through the Flubit steps again, same problem, so i cleaned out my Cookies and History. Same problem.
Logged into Paypal, via their own website, deleted and old card that was attached to my account from two years ago, Double checked my card was correct, and attached (it was), and went back to Flubit, with Paypal open in another tab.
    Same Error.

Contacted Flubit - Who were very quick to reply, and very helpful.
Thank you so much for your email :)

I haven't heard of that problem before, but we are in touch with PayPal regarding some other problems that our users are having in regards to payment.
Do you think it would be possible for you to take a screenshot of what you are seeing as well as copying and pasting the source code of the pop-up in an email back to me?
Here is an article that shows how to do that (check out the 3 steps in Section 2): https://flubit.zendesk.com/entries/23595256-Payments-on-PayPal
So I went back to the Flubit site, and went through the steps. Obviously the same problems happened. Did as i was asked, and emailed Flubit back with the info.
Also, I was asked to try purchasing as a "guest". I tried that, entered my details manually, and tried. No luck. Some other error, So i decided to try THAT one more time. No luck.

So while i wait for Flubit to get back to me, i decided I'd go to the shop, top up my card, and if all flubit fails me, I'll just buy a Kobo or Kindle. As this whole mess is for somebody's birthday present.
I went for a walk, stopped into the shop, topped up my debit card by €100.
Flubit had replied to my email while I was out
    Hi ***** :)

    Thank you for the screenshot!
I see that you're buying in euros – can I ask if your billing address is outside of the UK? I'm worried that maybe PayPal is not letting you pay because you aren't in the UK.

    Please let me know :)

Decided to check my account and it's down to €118. 34 or something

    Huh?

Paypal very kindly decided to charge me €1.19 every time i clicked "Buy Your Offer" on the flubit site (8 times apparently). FX Commission or some cráp.

So now i have to contact the very unhelpful people in Paypal and ask them to give me back my money. Paypal are renowned for not wanting to do that, so i might have a small battle on my hands (If i get to speak to anyone), for what may seem like an insignificant amount to some people, and the hassle it will create trying to retrieve it.
So, now I have so far been charged €44 (ish) and i don't even have a Nook on hold anywhere, or on the way to me. Nothing. (Flubit offer is about to expire) I have no nook, and i am down €44 (ish).
Well. That's a pain in the áss..

Even reading this post has made me feel unlucky. Hope I get an extra I can pass on. It's a joke the amount of cancelling etc that is going on. Nook sent me a survey to ask about my experience

Be very, very, careful of the screen. Any sort of a scratch seems to knock off the internal coating meaning that when the light is on it shines through. It doesn't impact on the look of the screen with the light off though. I think it also makes sense to ignore the advice not to put on a screen protector as apparently that will indeed protect it.
I speak from unfortunate experience and some googling confirming that this is a common problem. I talked with B&N re a replacement and they're happy to replace mine, but only via a US address (I bought it over there), as that's not practical, there's not much I can do.

    *chortle*:pac:

It has been a disaster for most, from what I'm reading. Littlewoods apparently taking orders knowing they haven't had any on stock since half way through the 2nd day of the Sale. They seem to be banking on the new stock to arrive, and dispatching it as quickly as possible. Barnes & Noble are playing down the rumours that it is in fact a Fire Sale, and are saying the promotion will end soon, even though they've just slashed the prices in America now too.
But if the Sale does end, and the prices do go back up, Littlewoods will only be able to honour the £29 price tag for the stock they've been given.

But overall i think B&N handled this terribly. They have to have known putting them at that price would get attention, and their first action was to kill their website pay system..

That'd be cool if you did get any extra.. Hopefully somebody definitely will, and hopefully I'll eventually be holding a Nook. :)

I'm adding a new 'rule' for myself..

    ...Stay away from Firesales.

Thanks for this. I also bought a cover at the same time and am extremely careful with my gadgets. Useful to know all the same.

I must say the light is extremely effective at night, even on only 25% or so brightness. Was able to read most comfortably last night without disturbing the other half.
