I'm not taking up on the trial if I have to go on to one of these bundles, I have loyalty discounts that I'm sure would be wiped by ordering one of those online.

See the previous post by UPC Reps they say any loyalty discounts will stay if you take up the trial

    I just learned something new.
I appears the new remote (with the keyboard) isn't Infrared!!
I tried to learn some commands on my Harmony Remote and couldn't find the IR port.
Further investigation and I couldn't see it with my camera. I put the new remote under my jumper and it still worked!
Don't know what command it's using, I don't think Wifi, must be bluetooth or something else. weird!
Hoping that Logitech Update their Database with the new commands soon.
The Logitech still work and the new functionality is there on the buttons that work, but the Info / Guide buttons don't as I can't program them just yet.

Maybe Bluetooth? Just from the earlier mention of a "pairing" button?

There actually is irda, but appears to be for the tv function only! (ie volume / source)

You can force it to check for the update. I got it earlier by checking for it in the settings.

I did a few posts back. On the touch site so can't link, but check the last page or two. It was only a couple of hours ago that I posted them.

Can't get that to work at all, gave up, will try again tomorrow.
Means no volume control, using the other RC.

Can anyone who has signed up for the Horizon box confirm that they have been forced to accept one or other of the new bundles. I have Anytime World with my phone and I certainly don't want to transfer to Anywhere 100 as part of the new bundles.

got accepted on the 12th April and I got this early this evening, it's the choice of two new bundles but I'd rather stay on what I have -

    − Fibre Power Broadband 30Mb
    − Digital Select Extra TV
    − Sky Sports and Movies
    − Home Phone
    − Additional Handset
− Home Phone - Anytime World
    − Digital+ HD
    − Multiroom Viewing
    − Digital+

has any body stayed on the same bundle and just received the new box
because i'm perfectly happy with this package and have no need for a speed
    increase on my BB!!

    Answer: Yes.

The people you deal with for the trial are sales people and by all accounts (and my own experience), they are pushing 100Mb BB as if it's part of the package - it is not. It's what they want you to take because they are using the 'trial' as an opportunity to upsell.

People really need to be a bit more assertive and JUST SAY NO.

I told him I wanted to stay with my current speed (50 Mb recently upgraded for free to 60) so he caved in and I stayed on my current package except I did make sure that I'm getting HD as my current box is non-HD.

So... I got the new software update yesterday, but since putting the box into standby last night, it's been in a weird mode and there's no tv now! :(
Hopefully it's something simple and will be sorted out asap!

Does a powercycle not sort it out?

Nope... Working with Upc at the moment to resolve. They've been very good and have called several times helping resolve the issue!
Fingers crossed it's solved for the weekend!

Actually speaking of which I know that this may be an odd question to ask but can somebody who already has the box measure the width of the front of the unit for me please? Want to make sure it'll fit where I have the current box as it's already a tight fit on my clusterfeck of a TV unit.

    Thanks.

Anyone get an email today implying there are only two bundles available with the Horizon box, 50 & 100? I'm being upgraded to 150Mbps, don't want to downgrade again, particularly since I'll probably be paying more.

Good to see the new remote, it's slightly different from the one originally pictured (the non-keyboard side was much simpler on the original, looks like they've added lots of buttons).

Looking forward to getting the box... but 'doh! I finally got a Harmony remote set up so I only need one remote control, and straight away here's another that I can't do without.. </first world problems>

It's not as wide as the current HD box (the cisco one)... it's a smidge taller... like a 1mm - 2mm... and a little deeper.
(not at home so don't have exact measurements at the moment)

Also, does the Samsung have the LED showing the current channel & programme? I quite like that feature in the current box.

re: Harmony Remote. Some of the controls form the BRAND new remote aren't there yet (e.g. specific buttons / shortcuts like Guide and Info weren't on the original remote so until Logitech update their software they won't function just yet, but all the rest works fine)
Just set it up as a Samsung - Horizon device and you're good to go.

Also it's worth noting that the new remote appears to talk to the horizon box via Bluetooth or some other protocol. I tried to make it 'learn' some of the new commands, but it wasn't transmitting any IR for them (it was for the tv volume control, but not for the horizon box specific commands).

Not sure if it's the Cisco box I have to be honest with you I think it's a Thompson box (non HD version).

This is the one that I have:

Thanks. Since the new UPC remote has a keyboard (so handy for lots of things) it'd be a shame not to use it.

I prefer Bluetooth, since it's not line-of-sight and you don't have to worry about where exactly to point the remote. It's just a pity the Harmony doesn't have Bluetooth support as well.

That'll come in handy... means you can use your phone to control the device with the appropriate software.

Also you may also be able to repurpose the remote as a bluetooth remote for a PC. :-)
