I was disappointed to see that our current President didnt use 'ZJ 5000' for his Inaugration Ceremony. It appears to be now resigned to a 'glass case' in Aras An Uachtairan. (I believe that it may no longer be used as it was transferred to the Dept of Justice from the Dept of Defence ...i.e. no military mechanics/drivers to care for the car ...the Dept of Justice are probably not interested in doing same?).

This one got Banger raced last year. I'm not sure how, as it was a silly price on DoneDeal.
Has an air of a Dottridge about it.

Some of those Z@@ numbers were issued in error and the 1-999 sequence never finished, so definitely a nice plate to have.

    Not exactly true.
Registrations with a Z following a Z were never issued.
Registrations with a Z and a letter besides Z following were, like ZPI, ZIN, ZFI etc..
The only exception to this was ZZP prefix, a Donegal issue in January 1982 which ran up to ZZP-407 before it was realised. The following issue, which was IH suffix, thus commenced at 408-IH.
No S.I. was issued to cover ZZP-1 to ZZP-407, so if you have one of those cars, you really have something unusual.

The 635 DZE is a 100% genuine Irish car, its owner is a well known member of a Classic Club and can vouch for it.

no its not its a raparound rear bumper car,a facelift bmw did in 1982,rear lights and bootlid were restyled then also, its a post 82 car.

if it was a 79 car it would have the non raparound bumper,as in no bumper blade up yhe side quarter panel.

i owned the sister car to yhis one for many years, also reg 635 dz''''''.

and she the short bumper car. i know my e24 635 very well.

sure the pictured car even has a 85/86 rear spoiler that doesnt fit the early series 1 cars.

    il say no more

Now the real reason the number plate system was changed has emerged!!!! A friend of my father has several classic bikes mostly from the mid 60's. One tax book, one set of number plates which are transferred from bike to bike as needed.
