How Will The World End?

How do you think the world will end? Obviously there are plenty of theories but I'm not sure which I think is most likely to happen.

Surely we're not stupid enough to kill ourselves in a nuclear war and I don't think we'll ever have the technology for interplanetary travel. All that's left is waiting for the sun to die in ~6billion years but that's a very long time.

    When's the next judgement day?

There's no point any of us worrying about it, we'll all be dead anyway.

How do you know that the world hasn't already ended and this is, in fact, the afterlife?

You'll see the credits roll, the lights will come up and we'll leave the cinema.

If it's human civilisation dying out, I'd recon it would be climate change. But it would be accompanied by all the wars that are going to happen this century because of dwindling resources.

Or, if you mean ultimately. there is the whole Sol going supernova and burning the planet up in a few hundred billion years.

i think with the explosion in population, a super-plague will develop which will wipe out mankind, or in the very least reduce it's numbers to a sustainable level.

The sun with go pop and the earth will be destroyed.

    Or will it?

It will simply change to something else. Like petrol turns to carbon.

There will be a great war, possibly WW3.
With dwindling natural resources, high population and nuclear weapons, we'll finally accomplish what we didn't dare to during the Cold War. MAD - Mutually Assured Destruction!

After that what's left of humanity will try to survive a nuclear winter. Ball could roll either way. We may manage to rebuild society and live peacefully once again for a while or we may simply kill each other to extinction.

Ultimately a great meteorite will strike the earth and finally seal the deal. Goodbuy humans and their ambitions, dreams, poetry, literature, history, philosophy, all consumed by the dust that gave it life.

Nothing beside remains. Round the decay
Of that colossal wreck, boundless and bare
The lone and level sands stretch far away.
