Strange reasons for getting the sack

    I was talking to lad in work the other day about someone getting sacked and he told me a story of a Frenchman he used to work with in a large city centre hotel.

    The French lad was working with guest services in the hotel, hoovering, making beds and what not. One busy weekend he was caught by a customer in their room wearing a pair of her knickers like a mask as he was cleaning, he was reported and sacked on the spot.

    Anyone else got any other strange reasons for people getting the sack.

    Strange reason in the way I can't imagine many people getting sacked for wearing a customers knickers like a mask as you do your job.

    But a very valid reason for getting sacked.

    Used to work in a place where a guy got sacked for watching porn in his office. The weird thing is that his office had glass walls, so how he thought no-one would know what he was up to, I have no idea.

    I knew a guy who was eventually fired for many sexual reasons with colleagues. He had slept with 3 of the staff in the office (there was only something like 20 people in there). He was eventually fired because not only was he caught with a fourth girl, but it was the boss's daughter

    Practically eating from the trash. Used to work in Dunnes. Whenever something broke on the shop floor or when packaged food was found to be ripped open, it'd be taken out back to be thrown out and marked as returns. Well, the main security chap just happened to be doing an overview of the stockroom and saw some lads bringing a pack of doughnuts back and stuffing themselves.

    Golly, were they embarrased when they got caught.

    That's the norm in all supermarkets, I'd say. Worked in one once and management were lucky if half the packs of jaffa cakes on the pallet made it onto the shelf. Also, one of the fridges wasn't covered by CCTV, so we used to gorge ourselves in there. Good times.

    Used to work in a sports shop many moons ago and this chap got the bullet for keep telling people they didn't have their shoe size when we did. He done it because he thought it was hilarious.

    Aye, but to think someone'd be foolish enough to do it, even though being told during induction on the very first day it's considered theft and an immediate sackable offence.

    Aw well.

    The trick is to make friends with the security guys so you can have a look at the monitors and work out where the blind spots are. Which is completely immoral and shouldn't be done at all, at all.

    Unless there are Jaffa cakes to be had. You can go as spy-movie as you like if there are Jaffa cakes in the offing.

    I know someone that was sacked for piling up cups on his desk. A serious amount with tea/coffee/soup still left in some. compiled them for months, boss hassled him to get rid - never did and cleaner wouldnt tidy up after him (fair enougH)
    health issue apparently

    Depends. There could be something in the contract about fraternising with colleagues. Or, he might have been caught getting jiggy in the office. They don't like that at all.

    Had one poor girl get the sack for spending too much time in the bathroom. We only had a few minutes each day for bathroom breaks and no one ever exceeded it as you really had to be at your desk to meet your targets.

    She not only exceeded it but set new records . The things is though she was going to the bathroom to vomit as she had bulimia . She was painfully thin. Had terrible breath constantly and was weak all the time. Everyone knew . The company did nothing to help and just put her through the warning and dismissal procedures. I know they were under no obligation to help but they did help other people including myself when we had personal issues. It was just sad .

    I know a guy who used work as a baggage handler at an airport and took to writing his name on peoples bags! God only knows why!
    So he was doing this for months until an investigation was launched in America as the name is quite rare and americans didn't know what it was about. Long story short he got fired and is barred from America.

    That is fcuking shocking, the lack of help is bad, but you are timed if you go the jacks? How long do you get a day?

    Used to work in a clothes shop not so long ago. One of the staff was this ferociously lazy geezer who was one of those people who had that rare knack of being able to look busy while not actually doing any work. He finally got his comeuppance when the boss sent him into the store room to gather a few items. When he didn't return the boss went in to look for him and found him wearing a pair of womens knickers on his head and dancing like a mad man. He was promptly told to hand over the underwear and was fired on the spot. Good riddance says I.

    A friend who worked with me a few years ago phoned up to take a day off sick, he said he was in bed with the flu. He was caught shopping, well and healthy, in a well known shop in Grafton St that day by the manager, who had the days holiday. It was the straw that broke the camels back and he was "allowed resign" by mutual agreement. Trust was gone.
