If Greys Anatomy has taught me anything its that Doctors and nurses date alot, and that the oncall room is not for sleeping in.

The most efficient part of the health service is ................. the accounts department!

First thing they do when you arrive is get your name and address for the account.

Sometimes the account beats the patient home.

Anyone want to ring in and mention the laundries....

I can identify with what this woman is saying. My mother was in hospital a number of years ago prior to her death, she had brain cancer and had lost her speech and the use of her limbs. In the beginning we noticed that she wasn't being fed or given her tablets, we would come in visiting and see the tray of cold food and tablets in a cup on her trolley and then being taken away. We had to make sure that one of us was around at mealtimes to feed her ourselves and to make sure she was getting her medication. I dread to think about patents with similar illness who have nobody belonging to them or to visit them.

There was no MRSA when the matrons were running things.

I agree with everything these nurses say. What's the reason though?

Is it understaffing? Lack of empathy in younger graduates? Specialisation of work practices so that nobody does anything in the end?

Everyone with little or no experience of hospitals think all nurses and doctors are wonderful. The rest of us know the truth.

    Laziness and lack of empathy

Each situation is different. Many old people don't want to "bother the nurses" so they wont say they're in pain, hungry etc as all they want is to go home.

It must be great to be a nurse. Between the dating and the shifting.

I know it's not funny and god help that woman but I have visions of her family running around the corridor looking for her father as the nurses move her father's bed between wards to avoid them!

I agree with these people complaining about neglect, especially regarding the elderly. I saw some some awful neglect when my mother was in hospital dying. You dont really believe it happens, until you see it with your own eyes.

I have an aunt in a nursing home and my cousins do a roster and are in there every day - they feed her, take her to the bathroom, administer tablets - its disgraceful - and it costs €900 per WEEK - so they should have plenty of staff for the fees they charge

I would have thought if you have a close family member in hospital, you would want to go in to see them every day to make sure that they are okay, check their progress, cheer them up, keep them company etc and to make sure that they are being well looked after, as they are sick and not able to voice their concerns.
