not being smart here but you could sell him to some one who does not have the same quality of cattle that you have.yours is at that top end there would be people with middle of the road cattle that he could do a job for.

But there are loads of correct bulls out there for sale. If I sell this guy for breeding, I will end up having to take a cut price for him in comparison to a more correct bull. I could probably get more money out of him by factorying him than by halter training, showing or advertising him.

There are enough bad bulls for sale out there. I don't want to add to it. I have to be realistic.

I still have 2 bulls for breeding that I will be feeding over the summer.

No Promise of dry weather over the next 5 days unless you're below the Esker Riada. 2 or 3 warm days which will promote growth, but it's to get cold again at the weekend with temperatures below normal. No end in sight really!

Dry land is wet around here at the moment, something would want to change for the better in the next fortnight or we will be in trouble here. Fields I can normally drive on with the jeep any day of the year are too wet to spread fert on at the moment :(

    Fair play Reilig,
too many lads think all their geese are swans and this attitude does nothing to improve the national herd

Quick question, can you write off a mobile phone against the farm tax? Or 2/3s of it as is with your phone and esb bills? Or is that only for bills? Seeing as I do use the mobile for likes of agrinet etc!!

What would a 600kg 18 month old pedigree bull make in the factory these days? He has never bred. I assume he would grade very well.
Similar situation here. Factory quoted between 1500-1600 for a 680kg bull last Friday. Bull is fine for breeding but being offered less than that for breeding.

yes, every cost associated on farm should include in farm accounts. otherwise you will be taxed on the double.

That was me alright :o It forgot to stop when it started though, Im only 2 miles from the sea here surrounded by mountains so its the first stop for any rain clouds blowing in from the Atlantic. We needed a few sun showers rather than the washout we have got.

He's not working cause I never let him work :)
He's just not good enough of quality for breeding so I'm being realistic with him.

Same as you Reilig i'm off loading my ERE bull and another 12mth pedigree old pedigree good bulls but both 1 star so not the full package.Along with the fact we want to lighten the stock load. Headin to carnaross tomorrow with these 2 and 4 other commercial bulls and 4 bb x heifers so hopefully trade is good!!!!
