    Are you familiar with the scientific method?

    Evidence: Rape is more common and frequent in Africa than anywhere else in the world. But maybe it's just their culture?
    Place blacks in Western culture, eg. USA, to test theory.
    Evidence: Blacks are still the main culprits of rape in the USA. They also have a tendency to prefer whites as their victim.
    Conclusion: Rape is connected to race.

    Does socio economic grouping, historical categorisation, social prejudice, low societal expectation, poor educational opportunity, highly gendered roles, generational poverty-driven criminality or physical deprivation have nothing at all to do with the attitudes that foster rape acceptance among some communities more than others?

    Is it not the case that any group of people consistently subjected to much less than ideal conditions will throw up a small percentage who sometimes turn into less than ideal people?

    Or is it all down to the level of melanin in the skin?

    There is some truth in that but we live in a place now where you will be silenced for raising it and i'm not just referring to boards. Maybe the problem is cultural or maybe its genetic i don't know. But there is a problem. Sweeping it under the carpet is not the answer.

    We must first acknowledge that a problem exists before we can tackle it.

    Could these horrible rapes be attributed to certain cultures, by that I mean more prevailent in said cultures,as rape is committed in all cultures and societies.

    A clip was shown on another thread about a young Flemish student who moved to a certain part of her capital city and was accosted daily,and through being hassled,became a lot more conservative in her attire.

    I respect the work many feminists have fought for,in bringing about parity for the sexes,but are we willing to throw all that under the bus rather than being critical of misogonistic aspects of non-european cultures.

    Unfortunately it seems to be more prevalent in cultures where women are devalued. The key word here is culture: some posters here are trying to make it about race. Many European countries weren't that enlightened when it came to these issues until fairly recently: it wasn't that long ago when an Italian judge ruled that it was impossible to rape a woman wearing blue jeans - and the sad context of that case was, at that time, some driving instructors in rural areas would sexually assault female students.

    It does happen but it's not very much. The HSE can issue cheques for cars. I have no links but if you know any social workers for the HSE they can verify that.

    I dont know any social workers. If its that prevalent than surely someone could take a pic of the cheque with their phone and upload it?

    I do know someone who sells secondhand cars. Said hes never been given such a cheque.

    Yeh there wasn't a great attitude towards women in Irish society up to less than four decades ago - due to an interpretation of catholicism, not due to people being Irish.
