I'm fine with people from desperately poor, war-ravaged, brutal places creating a better life for themselves here. It's what my ancestors who emigrated to America in the 1800s did.

I'd have to become familiar with immigration control policy before I just assumed that people saunter in once they say they're seeking asylum and aren't rigorously tested first. Bet plenty of them don't get in at all.

No EU member state can refuse an asylum claimant entry into their country at border control. Once you utter the word asylum - they have to process your claim. This takes time. If they refuse your claim, just appeal it. Keep appealing each refusal until you find an EU citizen to marry, a court gives you leave to remain due to you exhausting the system, have a child here, the list of loopholes are endless.

A 1950s declaration that serves no purpose in the modern world - only to help those whom want to circumvent immigration procedures. Stick a fork in it, its done. We need to modernise the asylum system.

Yes I know of situations where it's happening. I even been told by the same people who live in my area.

They will tell you it's their rights.

Post a screenshot of the government cheque an immigrant used to purchase a car.

I dont think it happens, man. Ive heard Americans claim that Mexicans get free cars from the government too. A myth, in my view.

Never said controls shouldn't be put in place - they definitely should IMO. They have to be.

Someone just gets handed a new car - for free, simply because they're foreign? Come on, you're better than believing that Liveline/Adrian Kennedy/Boylan 4FM fella shyte.

I don't need to hear about it. Don't listen to that crap.

I have seen it and been told it.

I currently live right beside a estate with 12 houses. 9 of them have both partners not working. Been like that since they arrived. Everyone of them has 10
reg car or better. Best of everything.

Or maybe they just had loads of money stashed away in bank. I'm friendly with 1 guy. Lovely fella but he admitted it too me what goes on.

Anytime I read any news items like this my faith in humanity sinks to a new low.

Almost to the point where I just don't want to live on this planet anymore.

That should read - refuse an asylum claimant entry at border control.

If they refuse your claim, that doesnt mean deportation. They schedule an appeal hearing. A good lawyer will buy you a year or two. Look at Pamela Iz (I cant spell, so not even gonna try). She got appeal, after appeal here.

Her mistake was not having a kid here or not marrying an EU citizen (only costs 1, 000 euro, see my sham marriage thread). Instead she went for the ould pull on the heartstring routine. An error, on her part. She should have never mentioned her hubby, and married a local sligo lad to obtain a visa, whilst still in the asylum process. She would probably be a citizen now.

But you want them to continue living that way...

Of course I dont want to see anyone experience poverty. I am not some sort of big bad bogeyman, you know.

India has a space program, one of the largest armies in the world and a country with more natural resources than Europe combined. It is not our responsibility to lift Indians out of poverty - that is up to the Indian government.

What do you suggest - we let the 500, 000, 000 lads on a dollar a day, or a sizeable number of them, into Europe?

Bit different to being handed a free new car though.

I just said above of course not. But I don't agree with boycotting them to let them rot either.

I never called for a boycott of the place. I cant visit places that require me to have vaccinations before visiting anyway so il be abstaining from going there, irregardless.

500 million Indians live on a dollar a day. Imagine living life experiencing such conditions?

The Indian government and the moderate to extremely wealthy dont give a f*ck. I think its a caste thing - they view the down and outs as below them and less human.

You can shame them into doing something alright(like the mdia are doing now). But you wont change the attitude and the culture.

It won't happen overnight, but attitudes can and do change.

Oh yes, and not always for the better. The left in Sweden managed to turn their country into the rape capital of Europe. A remarkable achievement.

Anyway, we have evil rapists in our midst here in Ireland, we dont have to go to India to find them. Some demonic creature raped a women at gunpoint in baldoyle a few days ago. Woman was only in here early 20s - another innocent woman has her live ruined. :(

Hasnt been nabbed yet afaik - http://www.independent.ie/irish-news/woman-tiedup-and-raped-at-gunpoint-in-the-baldoyle-suburb-of-dublin-29205995.html

Generally, the left leaning media shies away from reporting stories like this as it can fuel xenophobia and racism.
Remember Nicola Furlongs death in Tokyo? Hardly reported at all in the USA.

**** that. Bring on the Xenomorph. And maybe a b-52. For backup.

There are war torn places in africa where as many as 1 in 3 women have been raped. The world is a very messed up place.

Closer to home, I have to say, I hate guns. But as dangerous as tasers are, I'd have no problem with women being allowed to carry a small one as a defence measure.

Much higher than one in three in Africa.... in AMERICA 1in3 women will be assaulted in her lifetime.. http://www.woar.org/resources/sexual-assault-statistics.php

As I said in Africa it is much much higher....life is tough there..people behave like animals when under great stress and trauma

    Fuck I wish I hadn't read that.

Same here, but we should, because otherwise we do a huge injustice to the victim and become complicit in turning a blind eye to sickening outrages like this.

I love my kids more than anything else in the world, but stories like this make me wonder whether I should have had them. My daughter - my small, innocent, happy, trusting, vulnerable little daughter - is the same age at this poor child. The thoughts of something like this ever happening to her destroys me, and yet it's not beyond the bounds of possibility. That terrifies me.

Attacker was not irish btw. They don't give a description of the attacker and i'm sure the woman gave one. Make of that what you will.

I don't have children so I can't really with confidence, but you have to leave children have a life too.

Hearing these stories should not make any parent afraid just more aware.

99% of people are decent honest human beings, don't any parent let few nut jobs get in way.

Just hope this girl can get near to normal life as possible. Not sure how but hope she does.

Why are people pretending race isn't an issue here? Over 7,200 infants are raped each year in India. From the BBC. When adults are included, that number swells to over 24,200 reported cases. From Human Rights Watch. The actual number is estimated to be a lot higher.

Then we have South Africa, which holds the dubious honour of rape capital of the planet. In South Africa, it's estimated that a woman is raped every 26 seconds and a child every 15 minutes. Source. Raping children cures you of AIDs, don't you know. Many sub-Saharan Africans refuse to take western medicine as they see it as poison from the White Devils.

Back to Western society. In the United States in 2005, 37,460 white females were sexually assaulted or raped by a black man, while between zero and ten black females were sexually assaulted or raped by a white man. Source.

I have already linked to the Times article about the deliberate media silence on Pakistani sex rings grooming white children in the UK for sex. The vast majority of rapes, even in Western societies, are caused by non-whites. Now convince me why more non-EU immigration is a good thing. How will it benefit me. Links to back up your argument would be nice.

We must first acknowledge that a problem exists before we can tackle it.

Nobody here is pretending race isn't an issue, because race isn't an issue.
