Except Clermont's bench is a he'll of an lot better than both quins or Munster's

True, but if they play to the above it doesn't really matter who's on the bench... One thing I took from the Quins game is there was no real decisive shape to the Munster team when they got in ascendency. They used Casey as a strike runner from time to time, but in reality it was just 15 lads running onto the ball with a bit venom. Hurley was crash balling like a flanker. With that in mind, I don't think you can look at the bench in the traditional sense and say 'That player can come on and make a difference,' rather it'll be '7 sets of fresh legs, thank you very much'.

I expect Clermont to win and win comfortably. They have the players, an excellent coach and last year's defeat to Leinster will drive them on.

Yeah but clermonts 7 sets of fresh legs are far bigger stronger and better than munsters. And if Munster don't have shape they will be CRUCIFIED.

Probably a few lads from Cappamore on a reconnaissance mission.....

The cudmore poc reunion should be a cracker. He has a serious discipline problem which munster should play on. Toulouse won the second half yesterday with simple pick and go rugby.

The opposite could also be said. POC needs to stay on the right side of Owens!

IT reporting Rougerie is a doubt for next week..

I hope he's fit, I think he's a fantastic player, and let's beat Clermont at their best.

Let's not hope players are injured now...

With King or Stanley to come in, Clermont have good replacements for Rougerie. It would be a big loss in leadership though, Rougerie is Clermont through and through.

The Rougerie article doesn't have much behind it. It doesn't cite any interview and only mentions what thomond2006 or myself said in the Top 14 thread about Rougerie coming off.

I'd say he'll play even if he's on one leg!

It'll make no great difference whether he's playing or not.

We need to get our own game right, if we do, we can win it.

That's really not true, he has a similar effect on his team that POC has on Munster. It's a big deal if he's out, despite his replacements being very good.

Rougerie is one of my favourite players, I remember one Six Nations match against Scotland in Murrayfield where he tackled like a demon for 20 minutes and then had to go off, literally tackled himself off the pitch. Awesome player.

I really rate him too, but POC is far more important to Munster than Rougerie is to Clermont.

Clermont's captain not playing will make no great difference?! Explain that one to me.

That may be so, but to suggest that the Clermont captain not playing makes no difference is nonsense to be honest!

    It's quite easy explaining :)

Munster's captain was missing v Quins, let's just say it wasn't exactly detrimental.

I'm at a loss why some people are so overawed by a captain being out.

Ah stop will you, he's of similar standing to POC in Clermont.

    Utter nonsense, no logic whatsoever.

I'd liken him to BOD at Leinster in terms of importance to Clermont.

I diagree, I think Clermont have far too many threats across the squad for any 1 player to be a big loss. They are too good a team to miss any 1 player.

We're not talking about the captaincy, you're going off on a tangent here.

Rougerie is a magnificent player and the embodiment of the team, being captain or not being captain doesn't affect that. There are numerous examples of this, BOD at Leinster for one.
