I switched over to Tesco today. €50 a month for 10000 minutes, 10000 texts and 15gb data plus a shiny new phone for free:) O2 wanted €90 a month with only 1gb data and nearly €200 for the phone! I don't see how anyone on O2 would chose to stay with them when Tesco have the same coverage.

Only thing that makes me wary of switching to Tesco mobile is the feedback on their Facebook wall, not great at times. .

I've never had any trouble with Tesco mobile and have been with a while now. The only problem i had was initially my direct debit for payment wasn't coming out but we got that sorted. I have found their customer care good and have never had to wait when calling. I switched over to the €10 plan and they did it immediately for me. However their webpage isn't great for checking balances etc.

I find this android app very good for checking usage.

I have found both the call centre and the forum on boards very good for queries.

I'm on Tesco and contacted them to switch to this plan. I have no problems signing a 12 month contract as they've been good so far.

However, one of there T and Cs put me off. If I want to change my price plan, that is, go lower or even higher, my 12 month contract renews from that date.

No dice. If I become a heavy phone user in a few months I shouldn't be penalised for wanting to switch to a higher plan.

I'll stick with their 30 day plans which are quite good value.

Whats the story on these plans are they like bill pay , whereas your €20 is a charge for these services and you cant also spend it on calls etc

Im on three and you get the unlimited data etc and then have €20 credit to spend!

    Yes but you're on three.

SO on these deals with Tesco I pay the cost and its gone and if I need to make calls and text etc outside the fair usage cap I need to top up?

Didn't Tesco have a 30 day rolling monthly at only €25 a month with pretty much the same allowances, and without being bound into a 12 month contract? Not only that but I think you got double the €25 then to have available to spend on the likes of international/1890 calls.

This seems worse, no? More expensive and tied to them for 12 months, unless I'm missing something, like you get a free phone or something?

do you send more than 10000 texts a month?

Nope , but then I have only once or twice gone over threes text fair usage, so then id be better staying on three as I don't break their usage limits and get to keep the €20 or €30 for calls etc.

There was no calls with that PAYG offer - just texts and data.

Ah yes, that €30 a month deal seems great so! Even the 18 month 500m/500t/Ultd Data with a free phone seem pretty good for the lighter user too. I'm on 500m/500t and use my phone for business and seem to be on it a lot, but I don't think I've gone over 500 texts or minutes in a month since being on it over a year!

Some expensive phones on it too so would definitely pay for itself with any over cap usage which would be unlikely in itself anyway. 18 months of €30 is 540, the Galaxy S3 retails for about €360.

Sorry, the S3 is actually 269 on the 18 month/30eur plan, it said free in the main list but then when you go through the steps it says 269 and is only free on a 24 month €50 plan :(

The HTC Desire C is completely free on the 18month/30eur plan however, I'm not sure how good that is though

I assume you still need to put on extra credit if you want to make international calls, or to 1890 numbers etc?

It's a contract, so you pay later.

It's a pay monthly contract so I'd assume you just make your extra calls and its added onto the bill at the end of the month.

Please point me in the right direction for an S3 under €390... looking to get one but 390 is the lowest i have seen so far.

If you're stuck for cash and thinking about going for a contract where the phone is cheaper, just remember you'll be paying it back and some, over the course of the contract. You'd be far better to get a credit union loan and stay on thirty day plans to keep your options open and get what suits.

    This is far from true.

    Emobile - Sony Experia Z - €39*18= 702 + €119 for the phone = €821

    Pre pay - €540 for the phone +8% int = €590 to make life easy + €20*18 = €360 =€950

I think anyone suggesting a loan for a phone really needs to examine what they are saying. Now im sure there may be a situation where it would work out better but I think it is few and far between.

The Lycamobile bundles are better value then the Tesco 30 day SIM only plans. Plus you get double credit that doesn't expire, and there's no contract: http://www.lycamobile.ie/en/Bundles

If its contract then contact them first and they will send on the SIM and arrange the porting. If PAYG pick up a SIM and then call them to port.

I've been on the 10000 min, 10000 texts, 15 gb data 30 day tescomobile plan for about a year now.
Is this the same except it's a 12 month contract with a phone.
If so might look at it.
What phones are they doing with it.
