I'm a non auditor too and studying this makes me glad I didn't go down that path....!!

Starting to freak out about the exams in June now, I go on study leave in 3 weeks!? WTF!? Cannot understand where the year went....?
I absolutely hear ya!!! Last year did not come in nearly as quick as this year....how the hell is it April?!! I'm off in 3 weeks too WTF?! I'd nearly say I can't wait for it except that I was hoping I'd have a lot done by now when I've done nothing at all:(:(

    ...I'm off in 3 weeks too ...

You've got tons of time just timetable it sensibly, remember you're better off learning 2/3 of the course and doing lots of exam practice than learning 99% of the course but not practising, learned my lesson on that last year.

Jealous of everyone getting weeks and weeks of study leave from their work I get 3 days/paper :(

work in a dept where we have a mixture of small companies and sole traders, so get a fair share of auditing and accounts prep and also a fair share of tax from summertime onwards so i get the best of both worlds. Used to hate auditing, starting to warm up to it a bit now.

ive another question, maybe we can all think about it after tomorrows exam.... the mocks.... are the majority of the ppl doing them? Personally i dont see the point, as i havent started my studying yet and sittin in the exam hall for 8 hours doesnt seem worthwhile! :(

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,162 ✭✭✭autumnbelle

I've heard for tax ppl just walk in and walk out again, tax mock is also closed book.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 35 Dreaming of sunshine

Mandatory for us :( Maybe it will scare me into doing a bit of study! Won't get the fear unless I know what it feels like to go into the exam and realise I can't do any of the papers!

It's very hard to get motivated isn't it. I'm so unprepared for tommorrow and in general with it all

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 69 ✭✭blizzard13

I've no idea of the stuff for tommorrow was working all day today and now all I want is sleep! Don't think I ever prepared myself mentally at all for the work involved and kicking myself for saying I'd do four cap2 exams this year :) amazing how quick the time flys :)

Thoughts on the exam? I thought it was a reasonable enough paper, could have gone a lot worse!

thought it was fair, part c a bit tricky but other than that fair enough, countdown to end of june has begun

What did you all say for the model 3000? Never read q right and had put it in part b. wat business risks did you put? I felt it was fair. Any one know when results are out

i mentioned above the over reliance on the irish and australian markets and the asian supplier, the danger of sat nav becoming obsolete and lack of future revenue streams as it offers free upgrades, for model 3000 i just copied some procedures from the PQA and tried to tailor them to the question but was waffling a bit

I'm gonna take a guess at Friday 17th May? Usually around 6 weeks after the exam?

    Hi all,

Just wondering how people are going about their study plans. Are people taking the subjects in weekly blocks i.e. week of solid FR etc of are people planning on doing alternating the days with different subjects? There's just so much to do and Im trying to get my head around it!!!

Hi, anyone sitting the SFMA assessment on May 11th? Just trying to get all the key topics from the case...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,162 ✭✭✭autumnbelle

Has anyone any advise on starting to study? Just do exam papers? How should folders be organised? Has everyone already started studying?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 452 ✭✭littlemiss123

Haven't started studying yet but I have organised my notes! Then just gonna start from the beginning I suppose!! Prob just read through all the notes then focus on past papers!

Anyone doing the mock exams? Auditing and tax this Saturday but I see them as just a waste of time, but my conscience won't let me just skip them :-/

I've only got 3 weeks off instead of the recommended 6 and one of those weeks will be in college doing the revision courses so the other two weeks will just be solid exam papers.

I think the mocks will be great practice. It'll scare the life out of me and show me how much I have to do so there will be no messing around for the last couple of months!!!!!

There a small bit pointless considering we have no time off to study for them. Fair enough if they were on in the middle of may, most people would have a bit of time to test themselves at it.

Our lecturer in Limerick for tax is setting the mock paper and he told us to do a bit on transfer of sole trade to a company, PPR, company buy back of shares, scope of CAT, definition of specified assets and the new relief for holding onto a property for 7 years and be exempt from CGT on disposals.

How have you organised the notes? Have you split up the lecture notes? I will definitely do mocks even just to go in and study for the 4 hrs would be a start for me! However tax will be pointless as I have not even gotten to open the book basically.
