Other than saying "it's a very different scenario" are there any reasons why it is different? That's what's baffling. It's completely inconsistent!

a stamp is illegal regardless of where you make contact but a deliberate stamp on the head would be a particularly frowned on act

POC attempted to play a ball he was entitled to

I also dont agree that the same type of contact was made either

I also note that the post match thread has been closed over this issue, so maybe we shouldn't just carry on here

EDIT: posted before I saw Mod note

The lack of update on DOC is worrying. Awaiting further medical examination??? Why wasn't he scanned Saturday night or yesterday or even today?

The look on his face on Saturday night reminded me of Wally when Tuilagi took him out in the World Cup warm up, he knew he was not going to NZ, his face still haunts me (Wally is my all time favourite player). Would love to think DOC will be ok in time for the semi but I seriously doubt we'll see him again this season.

Who would be on the bench as second row cover if he isn't there?

    Nope

Who the hell is 'Grant Gilchrist'?

A Scottish lock with very similar stats to Nagle, could that be him?

I wouldn't be too worried about not have DOC available. If we had lost both POC & DOC then it was a crisis situation.

Some strange weight statistics in there, Dave Foley is the same weight as Keatley. Dougalls listed as being 17st

Ha, yeah he's listed on the Edinburgh squad as well, knew the name was familiar:

So maybe Nagle is in the HC squad.

    Edit: No, he's not:

We'll need 23 men to beat Clermont

    .

Maybe they had to wait on swelling to reduce. I think he knows himself he's gone, hope not.

No news on Donnacha Ryan either...was he just being rested? I'm sure the commentators on Saturday night referred to him being injured.

Ya, he badly needed a rest. Before the match I'd have liked to have seen a few more rested, but we came out of it not too bad.

Just a note on injuries, Peter O Mahoney plays with a complete lack of respect for his own health, he was throwing his head at tackles towards the end because he was so tired.

I'm sure it is difficult for the coaches to find the balance between cotton wooling players and leaving them undercooked. If most of the Heineken starters had not played for two weeks that would have equally been a risk (remember RWC07!). Assuming the kids are sent to Newport, I think it has worked out ok. It's unfortunate that DOC may be a casualty, thankfully for Munster his probable loss is mitigated by POC's availability.

He was being rested after games the past few weeks.
Was in Nenagh Friday night and did a training session with one of the nenagh u/age sides I believe and was in the club for AIL game saturday

I would fully agree with that. I would have thought he may have rested some for the Leinster game and played a near strength team v the dragons. But I do appreciate that that wouldn't have gone down well with the general public or the IRFU.
But as you say, it has worked out well for us.

We are unrecognisable from a few weeks back. Roll on Clermont.

Don't think o Callaghan would be starting anyway if Ryan is Ok. None of the first 15 bar O Gara should play this weekend. Would like to see Keatley play full back or centre too.

Have just seen that James Rael has left for Connacht, surprised at that as I thought he was highly thought of & at 20 yo, a bright future ahead of him.

He is highly thought of. The problem is that Casey and Scanell are also highly rated and seem to be ahead of him (based on them having played B&I cup rugby and Rael not.)

Casey and Scannell both got development contracts, so that probably pushed Rael out. Sherry, Varley (I assume?!), Casey and Scannell will be in the squad next year.

    IN: Andrew Conway (Leinster)

OUT: Marcus Horan (retirement), James Rael (Connacht), Sean Henry (Connacht), Peter Stringer (Bath), Sean Scanlon (Rotherham Titans)

Is that all the confirmed transfers so far? (I'm not including promotions from the academy.)

Probably correct, Connacht are offering a development contract to him. Do Casey & Scannell both show more potential?

Looking at the Rabo table, we've only 1 BP. A very unusual stat.
