Best thickness of whitening trays - 1mm or 2mm?

If having custom-made dental whitening trays made, is there any benefit in having 2mm thick trays made as opposed to 1mm thick? Which thickness of material are these usually made with? Thanks!

1mm trays are fine and easier to wear.
