Im looking to buy a 12 - 13 inch ultrabook with win8 touchscreen for under 1000?
Ideally with backlit keyboard and non relective screen - any ideas?
Many of the ultrabooks I have looked at are either over 1000 euros, or dont have Win 8 and/or dont have touch screens?
    Any help gratefully received!

The Lenovo IdeaPad Yoga 13 should tick most of your boxes (no backlit keyboard though). It costs around $1,000 with a Core i5 processor. No idea if it is available in Ireland.

thanks Torqay. Looks good but the websites I checked out are all showing it well over 1000e so its outside by budget.

Apparently, in Europe you'll only get the Core i7 version. Hard luck, in the US they sell the same model with a Core i5 for less than 750 yoyos.

Laptopsdirect sell the Sony T13 Touch (no SSD, no backlit keyboard) with various processors from €720 to €995. But according to this review, the display is rather crappy.

Other than that, you're pretty much SOL regarding touchscreen ultrabooks for less than €1.000.

    Very poor battery life though.

Maybe you can find an Acer Iconia W700 somewhere, more tablet thought than Ultrabook:

12" full HD tuchscreen, BT keyboard, superb battery life. Unfortunately out of stock at the usual places. :(
