The 787 wing view

    I have been looking at a lot of 787 passenger videos and noticed that the aircraft doesn't seem to throttle back on power after liftoff. It just seems to be on full power in any of the videos I have looked at. See the one below for example. Savage sound off them engines though.

    If the runway is long enough, at lighter weights, using what's called flex temp on airbus's, ftot on Boeing.....the reduced power setting for take off can be very close to climb power.

    In fact, given the right conditions, take off power can be less than climb power. Meaning that at thrust reduction altitude, power is actually increased.
